So I am a Khanid with the following stats and skills: Intelligence:8 Charisma:5 Perception:11 Memory: 7 Willpower:8
Electronic II Targeting IV Controlled bursts I Gunnery V Motion Prediction I Rapid Firing I Sharpshooter I Small Energy Turret II Small Projectile Turret II Trajectory Analysis I Weapon Upgrades III Mining I Analytical Mind III Instant RecallIII Iron Will II Learning III Spatial Awareness II Hull Upgrades II Mechanic II Repair Systems I Missile Launcher Operation III Standard Missiles II Afterburner II Navigation II Amarr Frigate I Minmatar Frigate III Spaceship Command I
My goal is to be a fighter heavy character with both solo (well what I can) and team pvp. I am debating on picking up manufacturing as a hobby.
My question is which race has better ships for this pathway? Minmatar or Amarr?
I was told by a friend of mine that missiles are basically the only weapon used in pvp. Is this true?
Excluding the ship command skills what else would you suggest before I get a cruiser?
Sorry about the length of this.

There is no end game in eve. As for missiles that's pretty funny. Missiles are used, but only at close range, they are generally useless at anything over say 40km due to flight times. Most fleet combat is done at 150km-200km and you'll never see a missile ship in a fleet like that.
As for what ships to go for, what do you like to fly? Fast frigates? Interceptors or assault frigates are your thing. Like huge ships w/ big firepower? Battleship is your tool of choice. You need to figure out what you enjoy in the game first before a answer can be given to your question.

I would probably fly an assult ship, covert op, or an interceptor given the opportunity. At the same time I think it would be important to have a BC and/or BS for missions or something of the like.

The 'end-game' ship is the one you feel most at home in, although it's always good to have a choice.

Pretty well that, Every combat ship in the game has a chance of killing any other combat ship. ---------------------------

Not at all. The weapons systems that work best will vary from ship to ship.
