Maybe not tired, maybe more bored .
Hunting pirates lately has been no fun .
We seem to be finding the same problems every night. These being, pirates never fight , unless the odds are totally in their favour.
Chasing them to moons all night, then seeing them warp to BM or instant jumps is starting to hurt my little head.
what im really trying to say, is that this isnt a PVP game, its agame for gankers, u have no chance to get a lock on anyone before they warp away. The only way to get a fight is by waiting at jumpins, or jumping in blind.
CCP will have to sort this ASAP, or the pirates will have to grow a pair of balls .
Im no PVP king, im actually pretty pee at it. But im not even getting the option to be killed unless i jumpin to lag infested jumpins.
I didnt even get to fire my little guns last night, and we were in JAN/AUROHUNEN all night .
Do all you biomice kiddies really feel the need to flame me in local all the time?????, well would u rather we didnt show up , sometimes I wonder.
The reason i post here is cause i dont speak in local, just thought id get some of my views over.

Funniest part was when they warped out, 3 jump-in campers with drones vs 2 of our ships. Of course, they were greatly outnumbered in local, but so what?
Before you start flaming me about how I'd never attack YOU under those conditions, I'm currently following a biomice in warp. 2 vs 1 in local, same thing last week, NINE vs me. I'm bored.
PS. If you consider this smack talk, do so. I'm trying to keep it down, but it's hard right now.

Yep - i've hit the same brick wall mate - too many pirates, not enough BALLS to go around
PvP'ers? My arse. I've yet to see a pirate do PvP.
Game mechanics aren't killing Eve (although they could be alot better), player integrity is. For f uck sake people, stand and fight!

It means pirates are a dying race. No balls - can't reproduce - die . It might help the game to concentrate on alliance and corp wars rather then to deal with few cowardly exploiters doing nothing but camping for shuttles and smacktalking in local.
Sorry about you being bored darth but I like the fact that pirates are goners.
P.S. Havocide - do me a favor and pod yourself to spare me the trip. ______

I must admit that I feel exactly the same way as Darth.
I don't get the time to hunt every night but on the occassions I have I've ended up warping from station to moon to gate or just sitting there trying to get a lock before the target warps away again.
Last night was a perfect example and I would like to congratulate Tank CEO for a most impressive display of the art of 'warping away’. It proves what an expert can achieve through hard work, dedication and the ability to hit the ‘warp to’ button every two seconds. I suppose some things come naturally eh?
On a more positive note I will give him credit for actually coming out to play whilst the rest of Biomice sat in the station and logged! That’s the way to go lads!
Come on guys, insure your ships and have some fun otherwise we might as well all go back to mining scordite!

Agreed.
If your fancy is killing players you best option is to pirate because then you can just camp a JIP and kill anything that comes along.
If you are hunting pirats you can naturally camp JIP's too but you have to be extremly carefull because you might kill an innoncent. Often you have to do it in empire space and thus you can't just scrabmle anyone because you would constantly loose security rating.
Problem is people show as Delerict and once you get an ID on them they autopilot away.
Basically, boooooooooorrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnggggg.
So, to PvP, erh gank, be a pirate or spend time on the other side of the fence and prepare for endless warping around chasing them down.

Gets some facts or just stfu ... everything you posted complaining about pirates is also valid for pirate hunters.
We all know that sitting around jumpin points is boring whether it be pirating or defending this "has already" been posted by half the people on this forums.
You cant fight at Startgates ... you can't fight at Stations due to the "Ray of Death" sentry guns.
You can't fight at moons or planets as you target warps away before you can lock them.
Everyone seems to have a "safe" bookmark.
So after all your rants .... apart from "Jumpin Camping" which I personally hate ... how are you going to be a pirate or pirate hunter in this game without CCP making jumpin points random and bringing "new" content into the game.

OOC---I agree with you Darth P.I.E. has on numerous occations cleared Sarum/Misaba and various other systems in Empire space, and never have we encountered pirates that stayed and fight even though they have outnumbered us greatly several times..... This is not meant to flame the pirates , in my opinion you bring flavour to the game, and you will never hear me cry exploit when i jump into Sarum and is locked before my screen loads ,thats a calculated risk but when i start firing back and you run away even though you still outnumber me i get kinda frustrated. I know most of you enjoy PVP as much as i do ,so please lets fight.......

How about just playing the game and having a laugh? Doesn't sound that hard does it?
All I hear is moaning about CCP, the game mechanics, exploits etc etc. Come on people it's a game, only a game!
I couldn't care less if I was podded a hundred times and you lined the walls of your station with my collected corpses. I've insured my ship, I have a clone and I play the game with a smile on my face. If everyone did this and stopped turning EVE into a RL crisis perhaps we'd all play with a 'what the f**k' attitude and have a right laugh and a lot of fun.
Hey, maybe I'm right off the mark? Perhaps I should worry about losing my ship, pod, life, reputation, being flamed in local and then I could just sit in a station or flame in these forums how bad EVE is and how I hate the game!

I got ganked 5 times in a row in my ibis for going to 0.9 space the other day. That's the thanks I get for killing known pirates. ---

Edited by: darth solo on 12/11/2003 15:17:20 thanks for all the intersting views.
I know posting here will make me a bigger target, and will most deff increase smack talking in local towards me(if that could get worse), but things sometimes need said.
I also feel for the pirates, i see no way of PVP being an option in this game, unless you can MAKE ppl fight u without ganking at jumpins.
I have a great deal of respect for pirates, im sure 70% of them could take me on 1v1 and prob kill me.
I dont care if i die , its a bloody game, i just wanna have fun, but if i see another "unable to target blah because of the warp blah is doing" im gonna ***** up.
i do honestly think they have been forced into their actions, as have we.
Sort it CCP or die, everyone can see that.
in the mean time ill look forward to playing musical planets, to the disco lights of my address book, of rats, flashing with the logging on and off again.

Edited by: Jexter on 12/11/2003 16:35:19 Believe it or not, pirates are afflicted by the same problems: targets that aren't stupidilly afk or elseway distracted can't be caught unless you are the "let's lag them to hell" kind of pirate (or pirate hunter).
Add to this the recent flux of Battleships and Cruiser fitting 2-3 MWDs that make them totally untouchable.
There's just 2 things that need to be done immediately in order to make PvP, Pirating and Pirate Hunting more dangerous, challenging and exciting experiences:
1. Warp/Jumps/Undocking: don't show a ship unless the client has loaded and rendered the scene;
2. Remove the immunity timers that were introduced because of the lack of the above mentioned feature.
Then go on and add all the new fancy stuff like cloaking devices, modules that allow to locate a ship in the remote space etc. What is the point of being able to locate a ship at his "secret" bookmark if it can warp away before you can lock it anyway.
Now some CCP Dev said that point 1 is being worken on. I sure hope so.
Oh, and I am a pirate.
Regards,

Quote: So the options apart from gate camping for the pirates or pirate hunters are .........
The options are;
1. Not being a cowardly smack-talking log-off merchant.
2. Occasionally fighting a one-on-one for pride if nothing else.
3. Leaving the jumpgate or warpin for a couple of minutes a night.
4. Getting a clue.
I agree with Darth and Miso entirely.
In this case its not just the game mechanics that are ruining Eve for PvP.
Its the pathetic excuses for wannabe "pirates" that we have to suffer.
Biomice and crew are the worst carebears in the game sadly.
The problem is you just want to "win" and score "kills" ... not fight for the love of fighting most of the time.
And when the odds are against you hide and talk smack.
Its very very frustrating.

How about this, I dont know how practical it is not knowing anything about programming. Make it so that a logged out ship stays there until downtime. After 1 hour of been logged out the ship becomes pilotless, thus meaning you can board it. This is cool in my opinion for a few reasons :
The pirates who gank people upon losing connection can now wait a while, see if they come back online. If not then they get a nice ship, or can blow it up. Logging now becomes very risky as it should be, unless you can find a secure bit of space, and even then someone may be able to get to you. So making this a bad way to escape combat.
The only downside to this i can see is some players deep out in 0.0 but im sure they can make a bookmark somewhere far out no? The other problem would be the pirate collecting his own bounty thing but im sure you are never going to stop those lamers are you. Well i just thought of this at work lol so it may be a dumb idea. The thing is you cannot bring in a system to force people to fight as this is unfair on those who do not wish to fight. 3 types of players : Gung Ho Those who want to fight whatever.(as its fun) Carebear Warrior Those who want to fight as long as they win.(no risk eg jump in campers) Mad Miner Those who prefer not to fight. (Obviously some are a mix of these but you get me...) At the moment the only ones this game works for are the carebear warriors.
CCP have to cater to all these and stop everyone exploiting, not an enviable task. Lets give them some ideas!!!!

I expected a somewhat broader perspective from someone as witty as you Jade.
Ofcourse pirates won't budge from their spot all night, why would you expect em to?
And fighting for the love of fighting? When does such a chance present itself? When pirate hunters come for us it's usually never an equal situation. Even if they have 4 and we have 4, most pirates won't go fight them risking another 4 pirate hunters to jump them while fighting. This is pretty much the same for the flipside of the coin.
And smacktalking, well, some people like to do it just for the fun of it, since the rest of the game doesn't seem to be any fun at all atm. I can say the same of anybody really, smacktalking is certainly not limited to pirates.

I think you know my reasons currently Indigo. There have been very bad issues recently that have appalled me in-game. I do actually have a lot of respect for piracy done well, but absolutely none for the type of laser over-stuff gank merchant that expects a challenging and dangerous profession to be made easy, and for kills to be served on a plate.
I think Eve has way to many wannabe "pirates" and not nearly enough quality pirates.
A chap earlier in this thread had it right ... pvp isn't just about winning and making money, its about having fun.
If I want to make money I will stick to my indy ... but if I want to have a laugh I try to go out fighting ... sadly this usually involves swapping substandard witicisms with craven "pirates" lurking at mid-point warps.
I think too many wannabes become "pirates" simply because they want easy kills. And not nearly enough because they actually want PvP play.

I am sooo sick of people saying Tank always warps away and he never fights of blah ******* blah.
Last night, Darthsolo and his corp was there with a strong ECM force. They had 3-4 battleships and 4 backbirds.
My warping away was a hit n run tactic, and my hit and run tactic did work because i got 1 of ur black birds.
Noticing that I warped back n fourth was a tactic because i was trying to pick off ur cruisers. My lock speed is 1.4 and its faster then all of yours that was there, so I was able to lock and get 1-2 volleys in before you jammed in and took my gavemtric strength to -44. 90% of you were jammers, so whats the point in staying when you have my jammed, I warped in and out as a tactic to take out your black birds, thats all, call it whatever you like, id ont give a ****, dont pat your selfs on the back so much. ---

But your right...PvP sucks in this game no doubt.
