well my experience with a dropped and then broken ipod was a 2nd gen one. long before they had flash based players, which is what your nano is. the hd ones are a different story. you drop it, and its ******* useless afterwards.

It sall a matter of personal taste, of what you prefer... i can tell you for a fact that the creatvie MP3's have better sound qaulity and depth than the Ipods do... and that Apple do tend just to copy other peoples ideas..
I dont think anyone is trying to say that ipods are exreamtly bad... just that they arent any better than anything else, in fact usually not as good... just marketed better.. and many people prefer the style!
ok ok that was harsh, i dont hate mods.. as an apology the mod who shows the most wuv gets a free mercedes...

Unsurprisingly, I have never been the sort to willingly adopt any strict proprietary hardware platforms.
However, I was shown a new machine with OS X this past Thanksgiving, and I must admit I was impressed by the relative smoothness of its ability to emulate both WinXP, Linux, and FreeBSD simultaneously. Apparently there are also some third party hardware licenses, so that misconception is partially allayed.
The magnetic power cable was pretty nifty, although I couldn't figure out why it was needed on a keyboard or a desktop machine.
As for music, well I don't need to hear syncopated rhythms while riding trails, and I don't really run anymore because I like my knees and shins. Headphones in public is also rather something I attribute to anti-social children, or child-adults.

About the durability of the iPod: One of my friends has one of the older 80 gig(?) iPod. One day he was riding on his bicycle to school, listening to music on his iPod through some gigantic headphones with a very long cord that he had. Waiting at a red light in an intersection, suddenly someone taps him on the shoulder. He takes the headphones of and looks at the guy, who tells him that he had dropped his iPod. My friend got a bit confused and looked down. It turned out that the iPod had fallen out of his messenger bag, onto the asfalt, and had been dragged for some distance while still playing! Which is why my friend didnt notice it. The iPod had got a lot of scratches from the ride, but still worked perfectly.
I have also dropped my iPod numerous time, and although it gets scratched and dented from it, it still works great. ---------------------------------------------------------
You know where you can stick up that phony eyepatch? Yeah, that's right, don't get all "Yarrr" with me! |

But personally id prefer something that didnt look like it had been put through a meat grinder after i accidently dropped it ---------------------------------------------

Love the iPod, hate iTunes. So, I use mlipod, which works through WinAmp instead. Supports album art, and is excellent. No iTunes that freezes up WinAmp for no good reason

After my MuVo broke (happend really fast, i liked it though) i got myself a 40GByte Clickwheel Ipod, no Pics or Vids showing, but durable like a tank. dropped it several times from my desk, crashed several times the ground while jogging and its still in one piece, just had once a minor problem with the firmware, everything else is fine with this. Would prefer when they bring something up like this again, heard the newer ones have issues with that. --------------------------------------- Member of UU : Diplomatic Corps |
