ok - I could not resist that title, I was reading the 100th - "I got ganked in 1.0 security thread".. When I thought, are these gankers getting their insurance payout back from being killed by concord?
If so could this be one thing that could be stopped? You aggress in secure space = void insurance claim?
Also - why don't insurance companies premiums rise the more you claim (you are a risk)?
Could we also have discount for those with no claims bonuses (you donĘt claim repeatedly the price goes down)?
My Icelandic friend tells me itĘs because in Iceland there is only one premium for car insurance and this is what they modelled it on (donĘt believe it but I said it anyhow)
just thoughts while I read the forumns today.

This has been done to death, but yes, the fix for empire gankers is to remove insurance payout ... wont stop them all, but they wont be going after every hauler with a load of Tritanium

This has been pointed out before, but oh well: denying insurance to highsec gankers would also hurt noobs in their first cruisers who lock and fire at random stuff by mistake and go boom.

It wouldn't stop it, but it would increase the overheads of the pirates who currently lose very little ISK for the profit they make on high sec piracy.
Concord Loss = no insurance payout = ftw
The ideas concerning cheaper insurance for those making "no claims" is not a bad idea, but I think the rewards for that should be very long term. I.e. 1 year no claims = a reduction. However, this would have to be calculated against flight time. I wouldn't see it as fair for someone to get 1year no claims for their ships when they never, ever undocked and only logged in to change skills.

It's not about someone being ganked in a T1 hauler (why does the fact that this happens to lower tier ships seem to invalidate the claim?). Its the fact that these sorts of things shouldn't be happening in secure space.
It would be one thing if this was a planned workaround, but it's not, it's an exploit.

It's only an exploit when CCP says it is and manages to stick to it till the end.
As stated before what to do with all the noobs loosing their first cruiser because they tripped and shoved that missile up the wrong gate I guess the whining treads about loosing ships to high sec gankers are fun for all to read. (Of course tomorrow I'll loose my indy to a gank just like that )

I wish there was a way for a more judicious Concord to exist. I lost my first Ferox to gate guns because the Wolf that stole out corp's ore was sitting on a gate and his aggro timer ran out while I was locking him. I'm glad I got insurance for that.
If there was a way for Concord to tell the difference between a gank and a fight that should take place, I'd be all for it. As it stands, the only solution is to get out of empire and live in 0.0.
Which is what I wound up doing. -------------- Civis Ascendant Sum |
