This starts off with a story.
Three friends and I were hanging-out together one evening and decided that it would be fun to play EVE for a while. Two of use had newly acquired battlecruisers and one a battleship. We decided doing a level IV mission together would be a nice way to enjoy the time together.
Two of us are in the same corp but the third (the battleship) has left to join a 0.0 group but was back in Empire space to do some manufacturing runs. So we gang-up and warp into the Gurista stronghold. We are immediately overrun with a gazillion ships at point-blank range; it's shaping-up to be a good night.
The battleship tells us to get clear to 5km and we hit the thrusters. The battleship hits the Smartbomb a fraction of a second too soon (my overview read 5,036m at the time) and he hits me with the Smartbomb for 166 points. Barely makes a bar on the meter go red. In a flash Concord are there and I'm lagging like a Warcraft player on a 14.4 modem.
A couple of seconds later the battleship has evaporated under the protective firepower of Concord. They had warped in to save me from the person I was not only ganged-up with, but to whom I had set a standing of 10.0!
Stunned, I watched my friends' tiny pod floating in space for a second before I realised he was shouting at me to get the hell out. Indeed, now that his battleship was gone, the Guristas attention had turned to battlecruiser and were starting to make short work of it.
As the gang-leader warped us out I was entranced by the myriad of Concord battleships just floating in space among the Gurista fleet.
Concord had shown-up to save me from the accidental friendly-fire of my good friend, and in the process had left me to die at the hands of *known* pirates.
Does this behaviour seem illogical to anyone else?
I could propose all sorts of improvements to the system, go on about "agent-based modelling" and "flocking of boids" to get my points about layered behaviour modelling across but the downed pilot gave the best suggestion:
"Why didn't Concord simply ASK you if you wanted their intervention?"
\\' "Never underestimate the power of a n00b to blunder through a dangerous situation unharmed and obliviously unaware." |

Simply what needs to be done is if you get shot by someone from another corporation there needs to be a pop-up that doesn't stop one from doing stuff, such as the stupid GM pop-ups (don't get me wrong, GM = Not Stupid, Pop-Up = Stupid), and says call concord or don't call concord.
Or punish/forgive, or **/** ect. |

Or just have Concord blow up Guristas. Two Ibises + level 4 mission = free money.
But don't you dare scoop that loot... -------------- Civis Ascendant Sum |

Ok..
Reason that "asking for help" would be kinda... to say the least...umm... ***#$*$%*+$
Police show up at your house, and, your wife with 10+ standings is sitting there ... shooting you... killing you...
What do they do? shout and ask "Hey want me to pop your wife" or, do they pop and ask questions later?
Reason that concord doesnt shoot pirates... because you would grab the loot, just like that one person said...
Reason that 10+ standings shouldn't not trigger a responce... corp can set standings...that wouldn't be to good..
Ok, now.. yes, I AGREE with having concord respond to gang action... why? it keeps gangs useable..
If you wanted to run a mission with some random person, you need to be in a gang, but, you really never know who is behind the veil... so, this keeps it nice
Sorry about your friends battleship, Hope it was insured...but, the current way concord acts, may seem slightly robotic, and dumb... but? ever see the movie "Irobot" remember the betgining? notice that, the name is "concord drone" yea.. you see where im going...
They do whats good for the public, just like, they saved the person with the 68% chance to live...

Just have CONCORD impound the **** loot. They blow away all the pirates, you get a standing drop with your agent anyway, and they scoop all the loot.

I agree; if concord is called into action to protect someone, they should do just that - protect them. If it involves killing some rats, then so be it. Just let concord impound the loot and make no bounty payable for anything they kill. This would prevent exploiting them for most missions.

Absolutely agree..... That is incredibly stupid and overly punitive Concorde action for what was done. Now just imagine your BS was outfitted with over 500 million in faction fittings and then ask yourself if you think this type of punishment is overkill.
BUT DON'T TRY TO SUGGEST TO CCP THAT THIS IS UNREASONABLE.....LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE THEY DO IN THIS GAME, IT IS SCREWED UP TO THE MAX.
1)THE "BPO HEGEMONY". (YOU KNOW, THE ROYALTY OF EVE.) 2)SCREWED UP ESCROW. (SEARCH BY REGION? WHAT A JOKE.) 3)SALVAGE? (WHAT? ANOTHER YEAR IN TRAINING SKILLS?? HAH.) 4)INVENTION? (SURELY YOU JEST. YOU KNEW THEY WERE KIDDING, RIGHT?)
Need I go on? As a mattter of fact, THAT is the question...GO ON? I gave the game a year and in that time have learned that there is really only one game here worth playing and it is marginal (Piracy/gate ganks). The rest (if it exists), is reserved for whoever holds the BPOs. Everyone else are just paying to pilot targets for the BPO holders and their cronies.
When my subscription runs out, I won't be renewing unless I see MAJOR CHANGES in the next month. (Highly unlikely.)
