So now characters will get to start with 800k SP. Fine. I saw a thread about this earlier but couldn't find it. What about characters that don't have that many left from pre-patch. If I kill the toon and respin it I'd loose the name (which I like) I would think. Is there a way to "catch up" or are recently made low sp toons just doomed?

1. Make alt.
2. Give alt all your stuff.
3. Delete original character.
4. Make new main character with 800k SP, using original name.
5. Give stuff from alt to new main.
6. ???
7. Profit!

Skellibjalla has a Dev Blog in the works with more information on this topic. It will be published before the deployment.

It's not a bonus, it's a new creation system.
Semantics, question stands, will alts of already existing accounts be able to boost themselves with these skillpoints upon re-inventing themselves also or is it once per new account?

calling your character a "toon" negates any skill it has, so the point is moot.

You are not Bugs Bunny, you are not Elmer Fudd or Daffy Duck, so don't call your character a 'toon'.
What would be interesting, for new players atleast, is if CCP can make it so chars are all given the 'missing' skills for their type.
For example:
Say your char's setup from a year ago, would now start with missile bombardment V, but you have missle bombardment IV, after Kali, you'd have missile bombardment V. PRobably would't be a very easy thing to do, but it would quell pretty much all the new player griping.

you can start a one kind of character now with 300k SP. Now, i haven't been on SiSi, but is this 800k starting SP whine-a-thon based off of the starting SP of a single construct, or is this something normal with revelations. Someone please enlighten me.
and why are people creating characters to start with the most SP possible now? I have 2 characters, one is 14 months old and the other is 5 months. The 5 month character has 50% the skillpoints of the 14 month old because of attributes and its focus in its skilltree.

No, it is just a new creatin system. ANY new character created on ANY account will have 800k SP. EVERY SINGLE ONE.

Even n00b alts. Which is where I, personally, think things get a bit iffy

Uh, why's that? 800k might be a decent boost, but it's not like you can do stuff much better than you can with the current noob alts.

Edited by: Sokratesz on 25/11/2006 18:38:54 Just give everyone who already has a character the option to distribute 800k of skillpoints in any way they desire among their current skills, first time they log in after patch deployment. One time per account of course.

I've got concerns about the 800k thing, mainly because it provides an out for learning basics first. (Cause hey, why fly a t1 frig when in under 2 weeks you can have an assault frig?), which doesnt help the whole 'player knowledge > sp' thing if new players lack fundamental understanding of game concepts. But meh, I was going to make another account soon anyway, guess i'll just wait till Kali-day so i dont get screwed out of 700k sp.
And I started out with 16k sp, so thats literally a 5000% increase. --------------

Starting with 16k SP only means you screwed up really bad in the char creation process.

Yes, even noob alts. So? From the patch notes:
Quote: It is no longer possible to log into a trial account if there is already an active client running on the same computer (subscription or other trial).

I'm still a firm believer that given new players a range of basic skills at lower levels would be far more helpful than giving them 4-5 level V skills they simply do not need that early. -- Lil Miner Newbie Skills Roadmap | CCG Card Lookup |

No need? Having a skill maxed is beneficial at ANY given time. A newbie with mining V can automatically use miner IIs and get a interesting yield from their efforts. The quicker newbs get their career on the road, the faster they'll be able to be combatable
