I've rented a research slot, but it always says that the chance of success is nil.
What is the requirements to research a blue print for an item?

If you try to make a blueprint from an item, you need a skill called Reverse Enginering(sp?) wich I don't think is in the game yet.

from http://board.eve-online.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=28739 This is the distillation of a petition that asked several questions about Reverse Engineering.
1) Can Reverse Engineering be carried out in the EVE Labs. 2) If so.. On what items. 3) What skills are needed.
The reply I got was;
1) Reverse Engineering can be carried out in the Labs and it is functional. 2) The items that can be Reverse Engineered are not in the game as yet. 3) Reverse Engineering skill is needed. A set of skills is needed before you qualify for RE.
This is what I recieved as a reply to my petition. Hope it helps.

Just to clarify, the only use for lab slots at the moment is to research original BPs you have or make copies. You can research mineral effeciency or production time. It has been implied by some of the devs that putting enough time into researching an original BP could lead to a breakthrough, giving a higher tech version of the item (a Miner 2 for instance). However, the devs have said they expect each tech level to last 3-4 months, so expect to have to do several hundred researches for that, if it even works.

I think it's kind of odd... RE is in the game and is functional! But you can't RE anything yet and you need a skill to do so. (Then can it really be considered functional?)

Kind of ammusing...

I have to admit after coming to this stage and not being able to use the tools (seemingly) available I feel a little disheartened, hope it gets implemented soon :) ------------------------------------------ if (orbitstation==1) { orbitstation=0; } |

There is soo much mentioned on the box and the manual and the website and MOST of that stuff is NOT in game or NOT working or both.
