I have two monitors, different sizes and how its connected to the GPU. My primary montior has all the ports I need (DVI, HDMI, VGA), while the 2nd one, I can only connect with VGA/DVI only.
I just RMA'ed my gpu and evga sent me a better card, except it does not have dual DVI port from the old one. It has only 1 DVI and multiple HDMIs.
So I connected my primary montor to HDMI, and 2nd monitor to DVI. What bugs me that when booting, it shows on 2nd monitor instead of the first. I assume I'll need to go into BIOs to change it...
But once loading to windows, it reverts main display to my primary monitor, which is fine, I could deal with it. However, checking screen resolution settings, its showing "Generic Non-PnP monitor" for my primary display, while my 2nd monitor is identified. I find it odd.
Wondering if anyone with some experience can help me out. Thanks in advanced! |

I am guessing your new card had: DVI, HDMI, Display Port (DP).
Display Port kinda looks like HDMI, but it is not.
HDMI and DP are digital, so don't even try connecting vga monitor to them.
DVI can be digital only or digital+analog. If your DVI is digital+analog, you can connect vga monitor to it using DVI to VGA adapter.
I recently replaced gtx 460 (2x dvi and 1x hdmi) with gtx 750 ti (1x dvi, 1x hdmi, 1x dp)
What I would do is connect primary to DVI, and get hdmi to dvi adapter/cable and use this adapter for secondary monitor.

did you go into your display setting and make the pc set your first moniter as primary?
you don;t need to do any bios settings, just go into control pannel, display and you can make the changes there. or if you have windows 8 you cna change it with a right click on the desktop (if your video card supposrts said feature) you just chose which display you want to be your primary output.
Not sure why you did not go into display settings at first but meh.

I was assuming that OP was relatively PC savvy and had already been through his display settings and had already checked these settings to solve his woes ... hence me posting a further solution to his problem prior to splashing out cash on a duel screen display setup |

I did went through display settings, which is the first thing I do when I get a new GPU. I did contacted EVGA and said that DVI is primary display port while hdmi are secondary and so on during boot up, no way to change around that. |
