10/10's aren't different from any other sig, just use the same setup you would use as you scan other sites. I personally like to use a 7 probe setup, scans nice and fast with little deviation 5 Senses In A Person... 4 Seasons In A Year... 3 Colors In A Stoplight... 2 Poles On The Earth... if you know from your initial hit that it's a 10/10 site i wouldn't skip scan-radii unless you're close to max skills. it's easy to become greedy and jump from 16au straight to 4au, but then when your sig splits you gotta go back to 8 and you waste a bunch of time :p |

Toggle probes on and off and rescan. You can figure out which one is real and which one is phantom without moving the probes around. Moving the probes is the part which takes the most time in my experience. . |

^this.
max number of scan cycles it should take you to scan any sig to 100% is 3. with acquisition at 4, that's 18sec scan time, say 2sec to adjust between scans, total = 24 seconds.

Always this.
Turn off the probes to leave one uncovered, rescan. If it's still there, you know the right one. - "Do not touch anything unnecessarily. It's called practice. I only used the 7 probe method before it was "better." I never use more than 5 probes and find things quick enough. And my fast enough I mean that I'm finding things faster than many of my friends who are also not new to scanning. |

this is terrible advice... all it does is waste 1-2 scan cycles. you can pretty much always tell which is the real one if you get a 2 dot result because it will be the one covered by 3 probes. the other one will be covered with 2 or 4 probes 95% of the time.
as for the number of probes to use, 8 is best by a wide margin if you know what youre doing with them. |

Ah well, you can go teach your alliance to scan, then.
When you were contracted to save a POS we reinforced I beat your guy 4 for 4 on finding the location of the static highsec.
My way, you waste 5 or 6 seconds to get a guaranteed answer, vs saving 5 or 6 seconds and having about 1 in 10 go missing if you do it your way, which can waste a lot more. It's not terrible advise if absolute reliability is the goal. - "Do not touch anything unnecessarily. So like, you can judge form signature return % what kind of site something is right?
What do you compare to then? Is there like a public list of base sizes or do you just make your own?

Rule of thumb: High end sites, very low signal strenght. Other sites dont matter. so just go for the very low signal strenght sigs. You cant tell by the strenght what site you will get, you will just be able to see if its high end or not. Go scan in a wormhole system and you'll see what i mean. WH's that lead to a higher or lower class wh have that trait aswell.
Also, moving 4 probes around is twice as fast as moving 8. Do the math. Furthermore, sisters combat scanner probes are better in wh space than in empire because wh space lacks all the crap floating around that will show up on a CS probe. In other words, a CS probe is better than a normal scan probe becuase of the better scan strenght and will save you one step.

thanks for the toggle probe on/off advice to see which signal is true, didn't think of that!
and yes like above poster says you can tell the high end sites from the initial hit. if you have astrometrics V and can use deep space probes, they can be very accurately used to find high end sites quickly in large systems. just drop 1 deep space probe, do a wide scan at max range and zero in on the lowest hits. |

Once set up it doesn't matter if you probe with 4,5,6,7 or 8 - in fact since they changed how many probes can contribute to a returned result you might even be 'faster' with more probes. I hope you do not move each probe individually.
Edit: on the 2 dot issue - since the probe pattern is usually more spread out in the x-y plane the 2 echoes will mostly be one up and one down. just remember where the other was and if your scan doesn't pick up anything move your probes to where the other echo was (up or down) and you have it. I myself don't go down in scan range 2 notches if i feel like the signature is too far off the center of my formation to avoid having a double signature. |

like i said, "if you know what youre doing". pro tip: using 8 probes is faster because you never need to resize them or adjust their formation. |

nice try and lol@protip , for you must be using different probes than everyone else cause mine require resizing cause i never get an insta 100% result. You must also be using a different launcher aswell when you are able to launch 8 probes faster than 4. And last but not least, since when does any good probe formation require adjusting? lol.
but hey, I'm glad you know what ur doing...
