Or do your drone bonuses only apply to thermal drones?

I honestly mistook you for someone who was worth paying attention to sp I offer you my humblest apologies and continued disdain.

Shar is, of course, completely correct in this... no matter how much some people may want to feel that they/others opinion carries more weight than others.
Rational opinions and arguments do carry some weight with CCP, it points them in different directions for analysis and comparison. Short sighted, ill informed rants tend to be ignored. If you haven't figured this out yet, you will eventually (once you get over yourself). Until then I'd curb the catty replies and attempts to derail this thread, it's making you look like a complete nubbins.

People type "LOL" a lot...I often wondered if anyone REALLY Laughs Out Loud.
Then I read the above, and I did...lots. Thank you Shar, you cheered up my Sunday night.
And, while we're here...Drake got nerfed far harder than the Hurricane, as mentioned...I don't have an opinion on whether the Hurricane was fairly or unfairly nerfed...but the combined effect of the Nerf on the Drake was a 40% plus DPS reduction in anything other than Kinetic Ammo (-25% to ROF (at level 5), and 1/7th of it's firepower gone)...the extra slot being returned only gives it 14% back. ---
I don't mind you disagreeing with me. Just don't say I don't have the SKILLS to comment until you've looked at them. |

Unless you use Kinetic, of course- imo the joint best damage type (with thermal) in the game. Gallente only get full drone damage with thermal drones (all the others have much lower damage modifiers), Minmatar's DPS is directly tied to which ammo they pick, irrespective of what damage type they'd *like* to do today, while hybrids and lasers don't get any choice in damage type at all. It doesn't do Caldari any harm to do more damage with one of their best ammos, surely. -----------------------------------------------

It has nothing to do with one player carrying more weight than others, the fact of the matter is, in some subjects you get a ton of whines, and yes, they have infact prompted change. Neither Shar or myself mentioned ill-informed rants, she mentioned whines, as a whole.
And whines, as a whole, get **** changed, period.

Well, that's obviously your opinion. If I go out PVP'ing then I fit explosive and thermal...for missions, the best type is whatever EVE-info says it is...and yes sometimes you're better fitting something OTHER than kinetic...it depends on what your ship level is, and what the difference is in the resists on the targets. these days, you can't say you're going to encounter all Guristas on missions, so a blanket statement that Kinetic is the best is false.
Originally by: Patch86 Gallente only get full drone damage with thermal drones (all the others have much lower damage modifiers), Minmatar's DPS is directly tied to which ammo they pick, irrespective of what damage type they'd *like* to do today, while hybrids and lasers don't get any choice in damage type at all. The pro's and con's of a one-type damage bonus are well known. The truth is it's very limiting, because the weapons are always balanced for the ones that have the bonus...we get balanced on our "capability" with kinetic ammo, which means we suck with the other three. It's NOT a 25% bonus to Kinetic, it's a 25% penalty for using anything else. The fact that some races simply CANNOT use any other type of damage is an ADVANTAGE, not a penalty. If they introduced Kinetic and Explosive lasers for Amarr, that damage would be pegged at 25% lower than EM/Thermal, without a doubt.
But, it is what it is...we can't really have our missiles doing varied range for different damage/ammo types like all the other races (again, the only thing that would happen would be Kinetic would be 100% of what it is now, and all the other ammo types reduced...range is a double-edged sword for missile users anyway).
An lastly...even factoring in a 25% increase for damage using Kinetic...the ship is STILL nerfed...25% reduction in ROF is a bigger advantage than 25% to actual damage. It's been shown in many threads before, so I'm not going to repeat it again here...but the difference is effectively 8% better for ROF. ---

The Drake got it's 7th launcher back. I needed something... I don't agree it got the right something back, but it was really Nerfed to hell and back before.
Any way you look at it, the Drake is gonna be the best Level 3 ship in game. It's going to be used in PVP about as much as the Ferox. ------------------------------------- Proud member of G Guild! |

Its funny... people say that about MOST missile ships.
And yet I see missile ships used quite well in PVP EVERY DAY. I'm not the first to mention this very fact either.
So for all these people who complain about how Caldari/missile ships aren't good in PVP, there are plenty more out there doing just fine.
Who is wrong?

"used quite well"? Talk about d-amned with faint praise. Ever see a missile ship in PVP that had you absolutely crapping your pants, like for example, a sniping Tempest might, or a Vagabond that get in nice and close? No. You see missile ships being "used quite well"...I can almost hear you stifling a yawn. ---

Yeah, my corpmates rock with their ravens. Unfortunately for us, so do some of our opponents :)
Can't compare it to a Vagabond though - but you can't compare ANYTHING to a Vagabond. Vaga > all, unless that "all" happens to be 4 people in ships specifically set up to take down a single Vaga pilot.

Fair enough.
But Caldari now have the sniper that makes all other "snipers" obsolete.
So shh!
