I like frigates, i've been flying nothing but Crows, Claws, Ishkurs and Punishers since I started playing EVE. Now that my droneskills are finally decent I am thinking of upgrading to either a Nanophoon or Nanodominix.
They're basically frigates, only a heck of a lot larger. 
So which to go for? If anyone who flies either could give some advice I would very much appreciate it.

Try both, at least on the SiSi. Nanophoon is the flavor of the month, as Domi is/was (dunno about Kali 1) better with the NOS+ECM cheese. Though I remember a Domi running >2500 m/s towards a gate about a year ago, so it's not like you're the first stuff nanos on a Domi.
Also note that with Kali 1 you'll get better results with a mix of nanos and inertial stabs.

What sort of damp can you get with 3 of those and good skills?

I would say the nanophoon as load torps on and you get good damage form torps and drone's
The nanodomi you only get drone damage as your guns will not hit crap at that speed if the enemy kills your done's you do no damage.

Also you better off mixing in with Inertia Stabilizers since you get enormous reduction in mass (I think mass went from 105 to 70 with 2 interia stabs on a Domi and to around 65 on a phoon).
You'll get much higher MWD speeds, better acceleration (or rather enourmously better acceleration), better going-to-wrap and crazy agility (i.e. fast turning even with MWD on I think the DOMI setup I tried did a 180 degree in something like 4 or 5 seconds and accelerated back to max in 3 or so second, crazy stuff)

1 x web is good in some sitations

why what would u do to deal damage with ur low slots instead of nanos? lol
And if ur drones get shredded then u send out the next waves. most domi's these days rely on their drones only for damage.

atm nanophoon is probably better, nanodomi is imo too slow to be really effective...
with kali dunno...
nanodomi will be fast enought and able to fit 3 damps and deal its good drone damage...
nanophoon will be even faster (and cheaper) than now and probably will also be able to fit 2 damps (that should be enought to fight at its range if opponent have not a sensor booster)

Nanophoon
Highs: 4x Diminishing NOS, 4x Siege II
Mids: 100mn MWD II, Cap Booster, 20k Scram, Target Painter II
Lows: 5x Nanofiber, BCU II, RCU II
Drones: 5x Ogre II, 5x Hammerhead II
Requires RCU II and AWU 4
Fit what you can fit/afford, move to named equipment if necessary.
I don't know if this is still viable due to the missile nerfs coming in Revelations. |

i havent tried it with anything above sensor damp 1, but in a month i will have good skills and may make a video of it
something along the lines of
3 heavy dim nos
3 ion blaster cannon IIs with null
gist mwd
3x phased muons
cap injector
nanos + RCU II
that might fit, if you dont have a tackler, using 2 sensor damps should put them at about 15-18km, then you can orbit at 20-22 with a faction disruptor
