My computer crashes when locked by more than 3 or more NPC ships. This has now happened to me 4 times. I have a Radeon X1900 with the latest driver updates.
This is the first time EVE has crashed my entire computer and it only happened after the revelations update.
Is there anyone out there that could assist me with this? I have an active mission..

I have the same problem. Try disabling the sound, if it doesn't crash then you've got the same issue as me. Should file a bug report then. Are you using onboard sound, Intel HDA maybe?

I got the same issue guys. I am using radeon x1600 and nvidia nforce2 integrated sound. Looks like disabling sound helps to solve this issue.

YES! I'm not the only one. My box reboots when engaging MULTIPLE NPC rats. Can consistently recreate the problem. |

Same prob here....lock on, hard crash, blue screen telling me to check my memory, worried me no end as I sat here at 2:30am, half awake. Least to say it woke me up.
Turned off ingame audio* as suggested here and all is well thus far. Lets hope it gets solved soon as the sound of my missiles hitting home is the only way to drown out the wife's voice...heh heh (Just kidding((she may read this)))
So thanks for the temp fix guys.
*also onboard audio used as my Audigy 4 gives me the screech of death on most games

Edited by: Valerek on 29/11/2006 15:39:09 Yeah, sound issue with the onboard RealTek chipset. Disabled sound in Eve (don't care much for it anyways...) and all is back to normal. |

I have disabled the sound now as well and the crashes have stopped.. this is pretty bad now because I need the sound to know when I'm being warp jammed and other gameplay things.
Yes I have onboard audio.. and this is a terrible bug as it crashes the ENTIRE Computer not just EVE.

Other users have recommended disabling the hardware acceleration for your onboard sound. See if that helps. |

Then upgrade your broken sound driver that is crashing.
By the way, something like 85% of the player base plays without sound and can tell when they are warp scrambled or being shot at.

My sound driver is not broken as it is the latest version from RealTek and works flawlessly with everything else.

I guess that makes me one of the 15% of the playerbase that cannot play very well without sound.

Yes, it is broken, because it is crashing. RealTek is known to produce poor drivers, so either complain to them or get another card.

I got the same problem... ATI x1800xt, onboard audio (atm). Good to see that I am not alone with this. Also, I never got this in RMR, but it happend to me twice while testing Kali(revelations) on singularity before. Seems like REV doesn't like us.

You happen to have a Asus p5w DH deluxe? I have a Audigy 4 in the bookshelf atm becuse all the wonderful onboard gadgets like raid controllers, firewire controller etc, borks with any audio put in the pci slots. A bios upgrade (which I am to lazy to do) should fix that problem.

Its an Asus P5N32-SLI SE, I am awaiting a reply from alienware before doing a bios upgrade. (Only had the PC a week so it may have to go back) All other games seem to be fine using the onboard sound so not too bothered about the loss of the Audigy 4, tis just I do play EvE alot and do enjoy the sound and the music (yup...the music...even after hearing it most days for 3+ years )so the loss of said takes away from my personal enjoyment...but hey hopefully its only a short term problem and I can always shout boom when my missiles hit something.....
