Within about 5 minutes of starting up eve, my internet connection disconnects. This only happens with eve. I connect via a USB ADSL modem, so it connects using windows Dial up networking. Is this a known issue?

i would like to add that... it the connection does not actually disconnect (as in windows still says its connected), but eve disconnects from the server and i cant load any websites up, without rebooting. This happens within a minute or so of starting eve.... so its simply not playable.

Hi, i have the exact same problem. Called my isp and they checked their logs, they showed that the connection with my di-614+ wireless router had been up and running. I also checked my computer for trojans and viruses, found none. I have connection with my router all the time. Either Eve hangs the router or maybe its a dos attack against it. In the firewall log i found many dropped packets, but they arent that large in numbers. And oh, i also reinstalled a fresh copy of eve. This problem started 3 days ago when i was jumping through fd-mlj / pf systems, at the gate my eve disconnected, luckily i didnt loose my battleship.
We need help asap !!

Are you both behind a firewall?
If so make sure it is not blocking any eve related traffic. Also check wether intrusion detection is activated as the packet flow eve generates might be considered an attack by some firewalls.

Well, i havent reconfigured my firewall, it has worked before with same config. I have opened the port 2600 in the previous config.
My problem still exists :-)

hi again, i think i might have fixed the problem. I still get ctd:s but not as frequent as before. I did flash my firewall with an older firmware. Although the current firmware had been working ok, until onde day when the ctds occured. I hope this is the solution, time will tell.

I've had similar problems when logging in, but, sometimes, during the game. However, my connection to the internet actually drops. I have found that the problem is due to Eve via repeated tests (over 50 of them.. all are the exact same. I am forced to duplicate the problem once it happens the first time). When my connection drops from the game because of this issue, I will have the disconnecting from the internet problem when logging in until I delete the cache file in Eve. I had to do so again today (the last time I deleted cache was a week ago), and I hope that this problem gets fixed soon. Btw, 56k modem, no firewall.

Well, clearing the cache didnt solve my problem, in fact it didnt help at all.

Im having the same problem of ctds and disconnection,im on broadband had 3 in last few hours and havent had any for quite some time (weeks).I did notice in the dev blog something about a ship database which required pressing CTRL F9 to clear items from the screen to get a pic of the ship, the problem the first time occured immediately after doing this,so in my case im wondering if thats the cause?

well i tried an alt char did ctrl f9 (ctd) then my ship appeared with a giant targetting cursor with the words 'click to zoom' every other part of the screen was ok tho.Spoke to a corp m8, he to has had a few probs 2 so i guess it may just be 1 of those days

Anybody still having this problem? I have checked and changed everything i can think of (NIC card, cables, drivers, blah)... Noting has helped. Some days its fine, but others EvE disconnects itself and what seems to be my whole network connection... Im not sure what else to do, and I havent been able to figure out what is causing it, but everything points to the EvE client. Lost many a good ship to this problem. |

I have a m8 who was having a problem like this. After some random amount of time playing EVE (or MotoGP, come to that) his ADSL modem would disconnect, and take 30 secs to redial, which would kill whatever you were playing. He was using a BT modem (rebadged, but I don't know who the OEM was). Our conclusion was that the modem worked like a winmodem and required a certain %age of the CPU. Unfortunately, EVE often hits 100% CPU, and can stay there for some time. When this happened the modem didn't get the processor time it needed and died. He switched to an external router (a cheap NetGear) and the problem has gone.
This may well have nothing to do with your problem, but you never know...

I have a friend who's been having these problems for a while now... lost several ships and lots of money in robotic parts, etc! I'll let him know about this thread and see if any of it helps him! 
One thing he found that is if he continually downloads something (say the current full-build of EVE) every time he's logged on his connection problem doesn't seem to be quite as bad!?! (Only problem is that he has a limit on how much he can d/l a day so tends to have to stop playing after a few hours  ) Maybe this is something to do with alloted CPU times as the last poster suggested - see if we can figure that one out!
