Moved to known issues and workarounds - Jacques
Ok cant find this supposed link to the dev posting a way to fix it without having to do a total reinstall
last one got locked the admin link was useless so can a dev please tell us how to fix this issue and why it came up in the first place
why is it corrupting our installation of hte latest patch
A quick note to i have done a full re download of the full client and patched that and guess what - cant find splash.bmp and the one i had from kali testing found it on the eve files website is stuffing it up
So before u say do a clean download and reinstall - done that - reinstalled hte patch using autopatch and manual patch both are corrupting at the splash.bmp
how have other ppl avoided this or gotten around it obvioulsy there is a way but the devs for some reason are ignoring it

ok im one of the few thousand or perhaps 10000s of people that when we attempt to patch from any version to revelations get about 75% of the way thro our installation of the patch when we hit a lockup in the patch and a corruption of the eve client due to not having "splash.bmp" file in our eve folder or if its there it being bugged and not working
Basically this means that id say about 10-20% of the players are unable atm to connect to eve because they cant patch the game - the devs have said theres a fix the admins link to the supposed fix but it suggest a reinstall redownload of the patch - ok thats been done everything fresh took 3 hours but its been done and ..... the darn thing still wont work - im frustrated the lack of offical word is frustrating to and a lot of ppl are having these issues
bugger can CCP just in the eve patches - stuff files just post an updated splash.bmp file so we can download that and put it in ourselves so we can install and play this game.

I had this, I just downloaded the client, installed, loaded it up and let it update to kali. Works fine.

I just copied the splash.bmp from my second Computer (or maybe your second/test install?) to the Computer having the problem. (it goes in the /res Directory). Then started the installation new and it worked.
Took 5 minutes more :-)

1. Download splash.bmp from here. 2. Put in in your main eve folder. 3. Rerun the patch from the eve/cache folder.

great thanks about time someone provided the link - shame the devs couldnt provide this sooner rather than later. Better still include a new splash.bmp in the actual patch its been harped on about long enough on the kali dev forum prior to the patch

Edited by: Beovvulf on 30/11/2006 23:48:07 Make sure that the file that you downloaded is named splash.bmp and not something else. If its named something else, then rename it.
And a note to the devs: Ive never done anything in my eve folder other then deleting my cache when recommended by the devs. And somehow I was missing the splash.bmp file as well.
