have you tried to disable your audio and see if it crashes again? if it doesn't crash you're blessed with an audio driver bug. if not i'd check your system for any other stability issues. (especially the memory)

"rare directx issues with multiple processor computers" (somewhere in "news" about new expansion)
Have the same problem on a HT-able P4 with HT disabled. Works fine on non-HT-able PCs.
"try to run EVE on a single processor, might help a bit" (didn't, for me anyway) _____ -sig-

well i have and know several multicore systems running eve. i know that modern systems may have issues with ddr-800 ram modules and wrong timings. in almost all cases it lead eve to crash to desktop (ctd). also i had two systems which ran memtest86 and prime95 fine for 2 days but even though eve crashed wich was due to data corruption because the chipset hard disk controller was more sensible to wrong timings than other components.
maybe you can check if lowering the memory speed, or increasing the memory timings helps. disableing the audio in eve doesn't help right? also as he said limiting eve to one cpu could help, too.

I was having the same problem, until I cleaned out my cash directory and player settings. It has seems to have fixed a few problems, Missing items, deleted bookmarks that were still coming up when I would right click in space, dropping connection (getting kicked).
So you may want to try doing that and see what happens. Worst case, you might have to reinstall the game...
Oh you may have to rerun the games DX9 setup exe located here...C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\bin
The cash directories are here...C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\cache Go into each folder and delete just the files that are in side them...not the folders themselves.

i had framework issues on the testserver. i had issues with the msvcpX.dll(s); X as in 70, 71 and so on and traced it down to the new voice chat component wich was the reason for this. but at least on the testserver completely disableing audio helped. since you said it doesn't help you i guess it has more flaws left :/

Awaiting the results of ur driver change with impatience... :)
As for CCP's efforts... Well, all in all Revelations is wonderful, but... What has hindered U from testing it on different PC's after deployment? I thought twas only our russian way of living expressed in phrase "Let it be...". However now seems like not only russian. Pity.

See

This is a common problem in certain games running on multicore machines.

Also, if you are experiencing stuttering sound, etc.
The problem appears to be centered around AMD dual core processors, and their "relationship" with Windows XP and DirectX.
You can have a temporary workaround by either setting the process to single core in Task Manager for your eve executable
OR
Download
http://www.42productions.de/downloads/ChangeProccessAffinity.zip
Copy it anywhere, such as:
c:\Program Files\ChangeProcessAffinity\
make a desktop shortcut change the shortcut properties Target: "C:\Program Files\ChangeProccessAffinity\ChangeProccessAffinity.exe" "C:\Program Files\dodgy\bin\dodgyprogram.exe" 1
Make sure you have that "1" at the end - that tells it to run on one processor AND make sure you replace the "dodgy" with the eve directory and eve executable.
Also check this out:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909944/
This last part describes the problem. It is affecting quite a few games.

Hmm.
Quote: This problem may occur if the program that you are running uses the QueryPerformanceCounter and QueryPerformanceFrequency functions to generate timecode but uses only the lower 32 bits of the result and assumes that this is a signed number. On hyper-threaded computers, dual-processor computers, or single proc computers in which the CPU speed is greater than 2 GHz, the output may be incorrectly interpreted by certain programs, and as a result, the program may not run correctly or may stop responding.
So, all we have to do is grep all the codebase for these functions, and have a plan for changing them (might be in a lot of places). Like as not, this is probably multithreaded hell, and will be difficult to test...

No, speaking as a software developer, this is fixable. The problem is making sure you've found ever place the QueryPerformanceCounter is mentioned.
And making sure that the multithreaded code you've written is properly done.
Just because someone has a fork doesn't mean they should be allowed to use one.

It doesn't matter if CCP own this "fork" or not. They must have been aware, what problems may arise with this function.

No, that's an erroneous assumption.
Many programmers are exposed to multithreading, even in the most basic classes. They can even compile or build simple programs that use them.
But the real test is building a large, scalable, powerful application that can stand heavy use - and that's not as easy as it looks. Especially if the threading model you're relying on is not truly independent of the hardware underneath (which might be Microsoft's fault).

I don't care. I pay money for the game. So do others. And i don't give a ****, if they couldn't reveal the problem during public testing on SiSi and address it! Why do i have to spend my prepaid days of playing on staring at an empty screen? Knowing, that those days won't be reimbursed in any way!

Sure, he's da masta! I've also been playing for a year. And I appreciate CCP's eforts and prompt service too. However, i don't like their usual habit to involve ppl on TQ in bugtesting after EACH substantial patch. There have already been some threads long ago bout such tendencies in programming, so i ain't gonna repeat the contents.

This doesnt even have its own official thread on the forum. Currently both my two accounts are stuck in the CTD loops (one in low sec -_-) and I can only sit and wait for ccp to fix it.
It sucks, sure, but it would be nice to at least have a word from ccp or stuff like a stickied thread... because people are paying to watch their chars crashing over and over wich isnt hot.

basically all i'm looking for too. a stickied thread w/ frequent updates on their progress.
I just getting a bad feeling about this issue, and what little they have said about it.

Yep same stuff is happening to me i approach a stargate via warp and the client completly crases. it did not happen in tranquility but happens all the time. clearing the cache works as a one off thing but doesnt completly resolve it.

I am having the same problem. Almost everytime I warp to a gate the game crashes. I'm running 2 Athlon MP 2600+. I've tried the cache, disabling the audio, and running it on only one processor. Nothing has worked so far. It did not do it everytime I warped to a gate, but at least 7/10 times it did. I docked my ship up after a nice little warp/crash loop. I also never crashed on the log in screen. I have all updated drivers for my sys, winXP pro SP2 and DX9 so not having the newest drivers is not a problem.
I'm also having this problem on my other account so it was not a bad download, unless I got 2 corrupted files.

There are several Blue Screen issues. Up to a day before the launch of Revelations on TQ, there was a problem with the Hyperthread calls crashing my system (I have a 3.2 Ghz Pentium 4 HT). That was fixed about 9 hours before TQ long DT rollout. The second cause of blue screen deaths was by an unnamed driver error and was my lovely AC97 drivers (audio) from Realtek (AC870, AC888, etc.) for my built-in 5.1 soundcard. Disabling audio helps here. But even better was downloading the 6 November 2006 AC97 wdm3.95 driver update!
Hope this helps.
