They are not what they used to be from what I understand, but I still find their Clarion Call video about the negative tracking weapon one of the best EVE videos ever made.
They're still around, they just don't really recruit too much new blood and most of them are off playing other games.

There were couple of good articles about RnK including Lord M interview. Confirmed more to come in a view of changes in game mechanics. Didn't check myself but they might be on sisi testing those cuase you know they come up only when it's polished to the perfectness.
Big respect to RnK.

RnK are in w-space at the moment and occasionally gank some stuff there with their Vindicator fleet. Not sure if they plan to make a video of that - pretty much every w-space PvP corp does essentially the same thing. They don't give fights however.
Clarion Call 3 is what motivated me to start playing Eve, become a logibro and go into w-space - would have been totally awesome to eventually fight them there (I even named my triage Archon after Agent Xer0 ), but when they rolled into us they just logged off. Well, I guess you should never meet your heroes... |

Rooks and Kings are still around. I do chat with Lord at times and he told me they been doing ok and are in the process of making another video but it takes time and resources as we know.
Ever since I watched Clarion Call 4, I been a fan of their videos and really amazed at what they do to create content. |

We're still around, although it remains to be seen whether we'll ever go back to hunting every day with a cyno on every gate.
It's worth keeping in mind that most of the entities we once fought are either gone or changed beyond recognition in their personnel. The core of our group, however, is almost unchanged. One consequence of this is the difference in the time available in one's thirties as opposed to one's twenties. All we can try and ensure is that when people die, they still die well.
And there will be new things this summer.

Indeed, I hopefully still have a campaign left in me. But as regards mechanics: I think stories drive people, more than gameplay mechanics, killboards or anything like that. Whether a specific gameplay style is empowered by patch changes isn't really important to us and makes us no more or less likely to use it. We rarely follow preordained paths. In fact, the 'coalition era' was all the more fun for its extremity, since n+1 is a challenge as old as warfare. And the future will hold new solutions to old problems.
Whether the next era of Eve will need weapons like pipebombing remains to be seen. We do still have a few toys in the testing facilities. Although, as mentioned elsewhere, I realised I probably took the pipebombing a little far when our key Serenity player, Fulcrum, went to Australia to study. On the first day there was the usual "Hello, this is me!" session, which appears to be a mainstay for addicts and students the world over. Our fellow made the mistake of saying he was in RnK and the lecturer (Test Teacher Best Teacher) flatly proclaimed that he'd been "pipebombed twice". With no further explanation offered, the rest of the students now think he's a terrorist from a paramilitary group.

Thanks for replying LordM.
I must admit, I've used the RnK videos (along with Big Miker's) to try to convince my RL friends to play EVE because they are so well put together, graphically stunning (1080p FTW) and the commentary helps explain away what is otherwise just clicking buttons in space... online.
I posted this thread off the back of returning to EVE and seeing the "This Is EVE 2014" video from CCP. Pipe-bombing got a fair bit of air time, and it made me wonder if any more videos had been made by yourselves.
Here's to Clarion Call 5... right? |

I said it in the comments on Clarion Call 4 and ill say it again here:
The preeminence of Rooks and Kings PVP in New Eden is unchallenged ! If ever there is a group of people in ANY game so worthy and deserving of the title " The Elite ", surely that title would belong to every single member of Rooks and Kings. You capsuleers are what make me play Eve, and though only recently discovering the universe of New Eden, what make me damn sure I devote all my time in Eve to eventually join your prestigeous ranks .Your movies inspire greatness as your tactics inspire apperception! I seem to remember watching a video that CCP posted that would lead me to believe otherwise.
And on a personal note, i dont care if they lose every war they ever get into for the rest of history, i just like watching them pipe bomb much larger groups into oblivion in like 3 seconds, hilarious !

Are you talking about Foundati0n, the alliance some of us were in 2008 and thereabouts? Foundati0n was a strange and quaint alliance, and yet had a fairly immaculate record in larger objectives. Great Wildlands was defended against the likes of Red Alliance and some of the battles (e.g. this one, though you may need a VPN in some countries) ranked among the largest capital engagements of the era. What wars did Foundati0n lose?

Eldwinn wrote:RnK is currently figuring out how can they put together another 3 hour long pipe bombing video without actually playing the game.
Clarion Call 4 used a tiny fraction of my pipebombing material; I have a death archive to rival Jeffrey Dahmer's fridge in its best days. The same goes for other doctrines and battles. I could probably keep making Eve videos for the next decade just from what has already happened. However, I do hope to continue playing and have fresh adventures.
That sense of place and time, and the influence that one set of events has on another, is what makes Eve unique and gives value to what has 'happened'.
pushdogg wrote:just watched clarion call 4.

they win eve right?
I appreciate the thought - although in the end I don't think Eve can ever be 'won' on the battlefield. People often joke that you 'win' Eve by quitting the game. Whilst I see their point, I feel ultimately it's the opposite: you win if you find a group of people you couldn't have found otherwise.
One day Eve might be seen as a precursor for all manner of intriguing virtual worlds and lives. But history might also go a different way, and Eve might be remembered as a strange anarchic moment in the underbelly of the internet. Not knowing which way the story goes is a big reason to take something from the moment.
When people now talk of key concerts in 1969, or their wildest moments of the 70s, there is a sense that they knew they were part of something that would be remembered later, a turning point of sorts. Those of them that 'won' were the ones who took some of that momentum with them and met key friends along the way.
There are all kinds of communities that have sprung up via Eve. What better way to win than to exasperate someone, one day, by explaining that you 'met in Space'?
