I've been checking t2 frigs, and I didn't like the Ishkur very much... Till I readed the Special Ability. +5 bay per level! Woah, thats four t2 cruiser drones at level 5! It sounds great! Is ishkur as good as it sounds? With that destructive capacity, and the enormous armour resistances it gets, I guess it can take down a cruiser or two on his own. Maybe even rat in 0.0. What do you think?

Yes, it is a great AF, generally considered one of the best. It can definitely handle at least some 0.0 spawns, but in pvp it will most likely still lose to a competent cruiser pilot (or a cruiser pilot with medium nos).

well man TBh if you want to rat in low sec just get into a bc. you can start with a bc and some skills and rat fairly easy, of course a bs will rat faster but meh bc's work fine. As far as pvp goes yeah any T2 ships has its ups n downs. you will find that the ishkur tanks by not getting hit as much as a larger ship. so ratting is a bit more difficult, because you are always getting hit with missiles. A cruser can also rat if your careful, as well as get you into the pvp scene. I'd look into a crusier or bc unless you have good skills for flying T2 ships.

I can tank multiple mulitmillion isk NPC battleships in my Ishkur; it's a wonderful rat tank.
Just don't engage the spawns of half a dozen cruisers/battlecruisers unless you like getting shredded (Eve S&M fantasies? O_o)

I love my Ishkur for ratting. Can deal with triple 1mil BS spawns without even blinking. Ironically, the worst spawns that the Ishkur has to deal with is the 2 cruiser/5 destroyer spawns. The destroyers can eat you up in the blink of an eye if you're not carefully managing your transversal and calling proper targets for your drones on the inbound.
AF at lvl 4, gives you 3 Lights, and 2 Mediums. T2 versions with proper dmg types can easily take out 1mil bounty BS's by themselves. Takes some time, but they break tanks everytime.

Yeah its a pretty good ship, just watch out for the ultimate weapon of eve(NOS).

LOL. Any AF can rat in 0.0 and Ishkur is great, but for PvP. If you want Af for PvE -- take Enyo, fit it with T2 blasters and you can solo 4-6/10 complexes or rat in 0.0. And the issue is not about taking out "one or two" crusiers ( which you can do between cup of tea and watching Simpsons), but to break tank of 750K and up BS's.

I think you don't give an ishkur enough credit in PvP there. Properly fitted for it, an ishkur will smoke a cruiser, even if he has a medium nos. And no, I'm not referring to using ECM.

Who cares about the nos anyway? You're just faster, isn't staying at 15km enough?

I rat in my Ishkur all the time. It's my preferred ship for ratting. No ammo use, high DPS, what's not to like?

Ishkur is an exceedingly good ship, no doubt about it.
I have been flying once since before people really realized the potential in it, and to this date I've been beaten 1 on 1 with another frigate about twice. With Tech 2 scout drones the damage output is excellent... get drone interfacing to lvl 5 and its beyond excellent... it's insane.
It looks good too!
