So thee i was flying into a system in "The Fix" mining some quaility bistot, when some rats (20k X 3) appeared. Being set up for mining i decieded to warp to the other side of the belt to throw off the rats. Unfortuantly the first missiles threw me into the side of a sizeable group of asteroids, and i was unable to warp away.
Thats when my REAL problems started, i had fired only a few voleys from my tachyon, and i only had 1/4 cap left. "Right" i thought, so i double clicked away from the roids and engaged the MWD...
"YOU DO NOT HAVE THE REQUIRED POWER"
The computer yelled, as my ship breakdanced and reeled from the missiles.
So i relogged in order to try and fix my capacitor so as to MWD out of jammer range, and i come back to find my capacitor now working (YEY!) but my structure down to 50 hp and armour at 1000 (how does THAT happen?), i manage to get far enough away to engage the warp drive, 1 missile manages to find its way to my ship, even though the warp broke the lock, and BOOM..
Some things that contributed to my megathrons demise:
* My shield was being eaten alive by only 20k rats, even though i was running 2 Hardners and a Sheild booster.
* 2 tachyon beams reuced my cap to 1/4 after 3 shots
* Once at 1/4 capacitor, not modules would work, and i could barely keep the hardners going
* The missles where throwing my BS around like it was a rag doll
Im not going to petition, as i know they will have no way to verify this anyhow.
Ah well time to work for another BS i guess, just be aware of these problems on your travels...

When you get notice of the cap bug hitting just log, don't try to fight it.

Edited by: Khar'du on 15/11/2003 17:56:13 Regarding the cap bug, be aware thaqt it opens possibilities for exploits too. I've been able to occasionally fire all ewapons much longer then i should have been due to the cap bug.
One rare occasions it seems that cap does not drain at all, or only marginally.
I find that the cap bug will oftenly dissapear or change in effect after docking and undocking again. Mostly the effect stays the same for as long as I stay in space.

I lost a vexor to that cap bug; firing up my shield booster instantly drained my capacitor to 0, and it stayed at 0 until I was dead. I don't know of any way to avoid it once it's happened - seems to strike completely at random.
At least vexor's don't cost as much as megathron's to replace

Is it somehow linked to the containers going isolationist?
It to my knowledge also just appeared with you not being able to move anything from jettisoned containers, you can see it but not move it. Happens way too frequent.
Linked in that they both seem to have occured in the last week.

i find it odd that it seems to of suddenly broken again in the past few weeks, maybe a hotfix we dont knwo about broke it or somthing.
all i know is that it occurs to m on a regualr basis, although this is the first time ive been unable to escape :-(
this time was unusual however, as i usually only get bugged when running lots of cap mods. this time i only had my (Rare :-() expanders on...
anyone got any ideas as to the cause? ---

Edited by: KrapYl on 15/11/2003 21:52:21 i get the cap bug all the time when traveling... and all i do is MWD to the gate... some times 1 MWD use 150~... and a 30 au warp cleans out 1200 CAP in a moa... sometimes MWD dont seem to use any CAP at all, and sometimes 80 au takes like 10 CAP... and sometimes the CAP 'o' meter is screwed, often when modules uses 3times~. when the capometer hits 0.00, i can stilll run my modules, and the cap starts filling... fast... then when it its full  (im using cap faster than regenerating it, but still it goes up) then my modules stop... it starts dropping(guess its regen' here, cause if i do a single MWD use, i can)... all the way to 0.00.. and then starts to fill up to 1200(100%)... [bugreported]
PS: yeah, lots of people are getting screwed up CAP... and the shield hardeneers are known CAP bugs... it allmost allways take more, than it shows... u think u have 25%, but u have 0%... its very frustrating to say the least

mwd cuts your sheilds by half and you cap also but forget the percent. i dont use them anytime im out of a empier area. as for getting too close to a roid i stay at the max range the minning laser will work. and scroll the screen back so i get the largest view of the area since the hud radar is worthless.

Looks like a bit of corp mining on the cards then - let me know if you want me to help mine/haul 
But I have noticed the same thing re shields - my Scorp config which normally doesnt notice damage to shields has post client patch decided to have its shields wither under miminal NPC rat fire.
Will try reinstalling the older patch and testing

Remember what I said about the container, try it, if it sticks abort the use of it asap and cut your losses.

Lost a maller to this. I was firing at rats, then suddenly with my cap reading 3/4 full it started saying I didn't have enough power to activate modules. I tried running away, but then I ctd'd (bad luck that). I came back to my pod :p

I've heard people say it may be related to certain modules, however, I had cap bug yesterday in a shuttle. I warped, and then my cap just started dropping, and dropping, untill it hit 0, then it started to charge again. No mods on a shuttle. Definately weird. Evolution..... Just when you thought you were winning.

Doesn't work. We're a big corp and since many of our members have had this problem we've been comparing and contrasting. We haven't been able to find a single module in common, and it happens to anything from a Bestower to an Apoc and everything in between.

I nearly lost a raven to a strange bug the other day.
I was flying through belts using a survey scanner. I had a MWD fitted, 2 tachyons and some launchers. I wasn't carrying many missiles at the time.
There were multiple ascribers in the belt. I didn't engage them as i was just scanning, and quite happly flying through the belt. They all started firing on me, so i engaged them with my tachs, at which point more spawned. Anyway, as you can guess Caldari ship + tachyons + mwd = sod all cap.. No problem i thought, i'll just mwd away, as i wasn't interested in fighting them. For some reason my mwd wouldn't take me over 200m/s, which wasn't fast enough to get away from the nasty scribs which had me warp scrambled. So in the end i sat there with defenders on, waiting for my cap to recharge so i could kill them. I managed to kill them all, then warped to the stargate, and again engaged my mwd, and again it wouldnt take me over 200m/s. I double checked incase i had fitted an afterburner by mistake, but it was definately a mwd. i docked, undocked and it was fine again.
stupid thing nearly got me killed :/ ---

Kaboom i lost a raven exactly the same way but i was fighting them and a friend came to help me and on his screen i was in a pod but on my screen i was still fighting and was only at half shield i petitioned straight away as everything was working ok and there was no lag but i got moved and then i was in a pod i complained and got laughed at by ccp A few dats later we recreated the situation we were using teem speek at the time and again it happened but this time i had people watching me as soon as i had been farming around an hour my pc started to loose time eventually we worked out my screen was running 4 minutes behind the eve server but with no lag, this has happened to us a few times while out hunting and miningand i wounder how many others it has happened to and how many people have lost their ships while alone the only reason we found this bug is because we use voice comms we have told ccp about it but they deny it saying it cant happen but we have peoved it can we even created logs to prove it and sent them to ccp but they refused to believe it lol. unless they know all about it and dont want us to know ?????? Turned on my 4 ABs and my cap dissappeared to 0...
...but the ABs didnt turn off!

CCP now knows weeks about a bug i reported regarding Heavy drones + hardware sound acceleration.
I havent heard a single word since they send it to the dev's. __________________________

yep, since a few days ago i've been having wierd and extreme capacitor problems on my ships when i have never had problems like this before.
for example here is some extremely unpredictable behavior i experience in my caracal:
sometimes the cap will drain to zero in a few seconds when i turn on my tac shields (before a few days ago the ship was able to sustain both tac's turned on indefinitely) then in a panic if i use my shield booster- it sometimes ADDs more energy back into the ship each time it boosts instead of using energy-- and in a matter of seconds the ship is back at full power again! this bug kinda helps make up for the first one;)
then sometimes when i turn all modules off and just sit in space, the cap will drain slowly from the ship all by itself as if the cap recharge is working in reverse- i double checked to make sure no modules are turned on- nada. so i just sit there and wait until the ship gets to zero, then fixes itself and recharges in the proper direction.
sometimes turn on a module like an afterburner and all the cap gets sucked instantly out of the ship, or sometimes the cap will jump directly from zero to 100% for no reason while running lots of modules at once. i am almost laughing at times the readouts jump around so crazily.
it's random enough that i can't trust how much energy is available at any moment. when i relog the problem just starts up again-- at least that behavior has been consistant;)
since the moment i noticed this happening i have been extra careful and adapted- just waiting for it to get fixed.

I find I only get the cap bug after I've been using an mwd (I usually use one for travelling but swap it for an ab while I'm killing rats because of the amount of shield and cap it sucks). What I usually find also is that it seems to do two things: either it's showing on screen that I have loads of cap, but telling me that I don't have enough cap to start modules like guns/shield etc; or it is showing I have no cap at all but letting me run guns/shields etc. I usually have to log and clear the cache (and cry because I have to set up all my bookmark folders again) to get it to go back to normal.
Why is it that when someone tells you that there are over a billion stars in the universe, you believe them, but if they tell you there is wet paint somewhere, you have to touch it to make sure? |
