Just curious, I noticed the ability to remap skills, so what I'm wondering is , if I was training a skill that took 7 days or so, and that skills prime attributes were intelligence and perception, if I remapped to max those two abilities out, would my skill training speed up drastically? |

"Drastically" is a matter of perception.

Save your remaps until you are doing higher rank level 5 skills that require several weeks. Early on, most skills, even level 5's are a week or less and you are training a mix of skills that require different attributes. Balanced is best. Train Cybernetics and plug in +3 implants as soon as you can. Training cybernetics to level 4 and getting +4 implants is even better if you can afford them. |

7 day skill will maybe turn into 6.5
remaps are mainly for a multitude of skills that require the same attributes. For example I've been in a perception/willpower remap for almost 2 years maxing out all of my subcap ship skills and weapons |

FYI...
remapping attributes =/= remapping skills.
The former will reduce the amount of time it takes to train skills. The latter will get you yelled at.
Additionally... - as a newbie you should not really worry too much about attributes (or implants for that matter). Even when perfectly min/maxed... you will only shave off, at most, a month and a half of training time over the course of a year.
- check out one of the links in my signature below. One will give you an overview on what the skill system does and how it affects you as a player relative to other players (hint: there is no such thing as "catching up" in EVE... the skill system is not a "ladder" setup like in other games where more skillpoints = more power).

Play internet space ships not the skill queue. I played the skill queue early on and ruined my main and wound up with an alt as my main.
Early on your skill training will be all over the place and what you want to do in game will change on a day by day basis. If you remap to train one thing really fast it will make most other stuff train really slow. So any gains in one place would be offset by losses in another.
Bottom line is if you have to come into the NC Q&A and ask about remapping then you probably should not be remapping at this point. |

The above sounds harsh, but it's absolutely true. You don't pick up on the incredibly variety of options available to you by attempting to min-max on day one, week one, or even month one. Remapping that soon puts you in the mindset of needing to diligently manage and regiment your training which is exactly what you don't want early on.
In short, think of your first few million skill-points as a tapas dish you've never had. A little bit of everything potentially delicious is in front of you. Taste it all. Come back for seconds on the stuff you like. |

my lowest SP alt has a remap that is +5 int/per, +2 wp/mem +0 cha. Most skills are int/mem (most support skills) or per/wp (ship and gun/laser skills). then there are some other skills like drones that are a bit different. also t2 ships are wp/per which is a flip of t1, so I don't completely dump the secondary stats. is it optimal, no idea, someone who wants to math it out more could probably tell you. maybe try a 1 year plan and just optimize for that?

OP, As a new character you received 5 bonus remaps, right? Plus you should have one regular remap available.
Get EveMon as suggested above and then create a skill training plan that's oriented for what you think you want to do in Eve. If you don't know, that's okay. You can find suggested training plans with a google search such as "Eve Online newbie training plan".
If you don't have a specific goal, then you want to do one general remap at the start. Moving the attributes around so you maximize Intelligence & Perception equally is a common recommendation. Or something like the suggestion above. You can get more ideas from the skill training sub-forum.
With 5 bonus remaps you can use 1 or 2 of them if you want to train something specific, but be sure to save at least two for when you know more about what you are doing down the road. |

skillpoints / minute ~= primary attribute + 1/2 secondary attribute
If your attributes are at 20-25, 3-6 extra points means anywhere between 10-30% increase, which CAN be significant if you stick to the plan for a year (save a month or two). It's not recommended in the first year because newbies need to train a wide variety of skills to function, but after your first year, when you're looking at month-long skills for capital ships or whatever, it's a lot more feasible to train a year of ship and weapon skills (per wil) and then a year of support (armor, shields, etc) (int mem). |

There definetly can be a drstic change. Take Advanced Spaceship command. Training that from 4 to 5 with stock remaps and no imps takes ~28 days. Optimal remap and +3s? ~16 days. |
