Ok maybe I'm missing where to bug report this and I have looked around to see if it is a known problem but I can't seem to find it. Before troubling the devs with a bug report I thought I would ask to see if I'm doing something wrong.
I hit f10 to open the map and hit "flatten map" and it flattens out just right like it use to do but when I hit f10 and close the map and reopen it.... its no longer "flattened" even though according to the 'world map control panel' it is. I have to click "unflatten" and then click "flatten map" to get it reflattened. It stays this way until I close the map and reopen it then its no longer "flattened" anymore.
Is there something I'm doing wrong or is this a bug so i can go ahead and bother the devs with a bug report?

i get this too and it's kinda bugging me.. also if you zoom with the mouse scroll wheel it's reversed (eg. scrolling forward zooms out)

Yes this is really annoying. I hope they put in a hotfix soon.

it bugged me to, but honestly not so much that i would go whine bout it the bigger problems need addressing this takes 2 seconds to fix, ;p less actually :|

Thank you for answering my question. I did not see that known prob page you pointed out. I didnt want to bother with a bug report if it was already known.

I've had the same issue. I've found the map behaves better if I'm looking at my ship from directly above. If I'm looking straight down at my ship, then the map is usually flattened as the view zooms out

i miss the old map. was so easy to see where certain alliances where fighting, or just random bored to see where all the people in 0.0 were partying...i.e. 200+ ppl in a station system and you'd normally see a post in alliance forums...now the map is laggy, if you zoom out to far you can't see anything, gonna take forever to get used to :(

Ok. I have an idea. Why not stick the zooming map controls on the top right above the overview such as it is when in Map mode.
That way we can have the traditional map on the side bar button.
Cause honestly. Loading on scroll = Annoying
Map background color is horrendous.
