Unless you're into industry, you should probably just sell it for the money.
Also, always check market prices before you reprocess. There's always that off chance that the gun or launcher you're about to shred may actually sell for a million on the market. It may seem tedious, but within a week, you'll know most of the prices without having to do much more then read the name.

Well, it's a simple question but a complete answer could be very complex. I'll try to make it simple...
See, you can sell the loot now, or later, or reprocess and sell the minerals now, or later. But there is no 'best way'. Eve's market is player driven. Sometimes there's a buy order paying a lot for a module and selling it is best. Sometimes the mineral pricess are good and it's a good time to reprocess and sell the minerals. On the other side, when you wait, you don't really know if the prices are going to be better at a later date. As you gain experience, you will get familiar with the market... you will be able to identify what prices are good and maybe even predict market changes. For now, just check the market every time and decide what's best for each time.
Finally, keep in mind that other variables also affect this. Some stations reprocesing facilities are better than others and there are skills (scrapmetal processing?) that let you reprocess with more efficiency.
Personally, I believe that verifying the market for every looted module takes to much time so as a rule, if is not a 'named' item I will reprocess.

"named" items are items that have really intricate names like for example, a 150mm railgun is a basic railgun, a named railgun would be a 150mm compressed coil gun. Similar naming conventions would be found for nearly 99% of all eve's ship mods.

Definately a good way to go about things. Selling minerals from reprocessed standard loot is a good money maker for the newbies.
