Well, this is it. Today is the day. A few random thoughts and comments:
The first version of the tournament felt like a last-minute affair yet ended up being quite interesting.
The second Tournament was much better organized and planned.
While there are things about this tournament that I dislike immensely, to the point that MC and a few other teams were seriously thinking of pulling out, we decided to stick around and have some fun. Because, at the end, that's really what it's all about, right? Fun!
I'm hopeful that we can take the lessons we've learned in the last two tournaments and evolve the next one into something that takes the best elements (seven man teams, the points system, etc...) and discards the worst (ECM?, Implants?).
Overall I think this Tourney stands to be either very entertaining or very boring. People are going to come up with some really wild stuff to try out or they are going to stick to something that 'works' and just try to win. My hope is for more of the former and less of the later, otherwise I think we're going to see some very dull matches.
In the spirit of that, don't try to guess what we're going to do because we plan to have a different strategy for each of the first four matches. Each one has the potential to win, but I'll be amazed if we don't drop a few jaws and get some laughs as well. TBH, I've had to step aside and let some of our more 'imaginative' people take the wheel in planning this stuff.
What's fun about these Tournaments is that you get to fight people you'd normally not see much of in the game and it's an awesome opportunity to have fun and try some of the, "Hey, Boss, watch this!" type of stuff. I will tell you all right now that you can count on the MC to "bring the Crazy" this time out.
Good luck and see you all out there!

Should I be worried?
Until they said it wan't allowed, I really wanted to come in and just bump everyone out of the arena. But alas, it was not meant to be.
Thinking back, we should have had a gentleman's agreement to have a close-range, no ew battle instead to kick it off with a bang.
I'm certain our match today will be "the one to watch".
Good luck

Go BoB,
I want to see another coming back from against the odds victory like we've had in the last two although not sure my heart could take it.
The tournie has changed a lot this time though, the inclusion of EW has turned the thing on it's head. I have no problems with this change as it opens up new elements in the game although I fear we could get much longer matches than before due to that + more hp.
I'm dissapointed by the prizes this time round if they remain as stated. This is suposed to be an alliance tournament but is only benefitting the guys fighting. There should be good prizes for the guys fighting (from semi finals onwards) and an overall prize for the winning alliance. Something like the formula 1 gp does ;)
As always, we trust in TWD and if we win or fail it's just awesome to be involved in this tournament again as it really brings our alliance together, watching it, talking about it and participating in it.
Good luck to all teams, dbp

It's not too late. TBH, it wouldn't surprise me if quite a few people decide to do such a thing. It might rob some of the surprise out of things though, but I'm open to ideas.
The killer part of all this is that due to the "small" arena and other rules (or lack thereof) in place, it kind of limits the nail-biting factor. I'd much rather my first encounter with some of the alliances be on a broader playing field, with either a much more limited or tottally unlimited module selection.
IMO, we should be using bare bones skills and tactics, or balls to the wall faction / officer everything. If someone wants to bring a 10 billion ISK CNR with 4 billion in implants and put it on the line, THAT would be awesome, especially if that guy runs into an all Tech 1 NOS / Blaster team that turns him to slag.

And our match with Lotka Volterra will be a big one too.
This is my second tournament, and I plan to enjoy it as much as the last one. There's nerves and excitement, and it's an honour to be amongst the greatest pilots in this game.
Good luck to all the teams.

That would be the funniest crap ever ROFL!!!
Team A shows up in faction ships w/ uber named t2 mods, etc.. and team B shows up in mwding nanoed ships from hell and end up bumbing Team A out of the ring for a win!!!
I know I would die laughing hahaha.

In all seriousness good luck to all those involved. I hope to see some good fights and some inventiveness.
I know my team has some interesting strategies. Im eager to see what other people do. -----

TBH, I think it's because many of us share the same opinion about the tourney - it's artificial and not a true reflection of what we're all capable of in the "real world". If that were the case, I'd park five Moms in the arena, Molle would bring his Avatar, there would be carriers and Tier 3 BS galore and you guys would probably find a way to dampen all of it anyway.

Edited by: Christopher Multsanti on 01/12/2006 11:13:24 I am really looking forward to it. The majority of Eve are not involved in the competition and watch it on Eve Tv, which I think is going to be bigger and brighter than last year.
So on a spectators note, I think it's going to be fantastic.
As for the rules, well If E-R and Maza make it to zee last 16, I know what will be voting for and against in the next tournament.

Hehe personally I think tourney's like this are a far more accurate measure of combat skill then 'In game' combat because it's be default (almost, ignoring the implants) fair.
In normal eve there are almost/never any fair small gang fights. One side is always outnumbered or lagged out or some other impediment.
Having said that... Wish we werent facing V in the first round lol... *gulp*

4 mins until EVE TV goes live.
Just time for a quick post before i settle down to drink beer and waste the next 6 or so hours of my life in a glorious blaze of spiraljunkie, explosions and reminders of fanfest in the way of Loxy's camera antics and interviews.
Good luck to all the teams fighting today, See you on the other side.

Comments are in no particular order (cant remember names that well but people who have watched the fights will know what im talinking about)
VERY nice tanking today Tank CEO. Your Rohk held way longer than i would have expected, i really had my fingers crossed for you to make it through till the timelimit.
BoB battle was very boring, i would have expected at least some resistance instead of that slaughter (again). Hopefully we see some more interresting things in the future.
Pretty sad to see those Navy Vexors go down, their 1st fight was sooo much fun to watch.
ASCN fight was pretty boring too. Same setup as in the 1st fight got extremly well countered. Hopefully they get their act together and show us something better next time. The Huggin did a great job in keeping ASCN ships pinned down.
So far some very interresting ship combinations. My personal favorit was the Navy? Raven with Rage torps / Huginn with target painters combination although the Damnation / Navy Vexors are a close second (1st place on style).
Nos usage is a bit extrem, those nos-fests i saw today were so boring. Yes (in most cases) it got its job done but sry its nothing to brag about. I would like to see more gank and less nos, maybe some Huginn(webber)/Huggin(target painter)/Raven (rage torp) combination. Damage focusing was in several cases not that good, hopefully teams will work on that.
I was surprised to see that the logistics werent taken out first or at least secondary in several cases. I would like to know why? Logistics help the team a lot and after they are gone the other tanks should be a good bit easier to break. Does it take too long to take them out so that the damage dealers are the easier targets?
PS: Thank gods they added the Media Player stream, the constant buffering of the flash stream was a real nuisance.
