Im am looking at getting an Eagle in the near future and using it for small/large gang pvp.
I am preferring to take advantage of the high resits to give it a mean tank using the med slots, and using the lo's to work on the range and pitiful damage.
4 X 200mm 2
2 X Heavy missile launchers 2
2 X large shield Extenders 2
1 X Invul field 2
1 X passive EM hardener 2
1 X MWD 2
2 X The turret ROF/Damage mod
1 X PDS
1 X mod for turret range (if lo slot mod)
Trouble is, with the weapons, extenders and mwd, I come up at around 200 PG short.
My only thought at the moment is to drop one extender for a range mod, and switch the MWD to an AB - although im not sire if that will help. And maybe turn a launcher to a smartbomb for drone defense.
I'm looking to fit it for around 40-50km range, or maybe more depending on rnage mods.
Any one got any ideas for reducing PG usage and still keeping my idea alive? Or is my idea not practical?

I'd stick with Blasters if you wanted a good tank/damage combo and a sniper-setup with 250's if you're looking for that. I certainly wouldn't fit a MWD on a rail-setup though, you'll need your cap.
Check the old Eagle-setup post (stickies) for mechcore's blastersetup. Enjoyed it a lot myself.

First thing that come up to my mind is, you don't want your HAC to appear like a BS on the radar, so drop your MWD and take an AB T2 instead, since with its double range bonus, you won't need all that speed boost amount to catch your target, especially in agang where support will probably web them ).
This should give your the needed PWG to help you fit 250mm T2 instead of 200mm T2.
Passive tanking layout appears to be fair enough to me.
For the lows however, I'd drop the PDS and Tracking Enhancer to a couple of Shield Power Relays, or just one and take your PDS back in.

Thats a looooong range setup. Iv'e already read that in a post.
Main problem I see with that is if any MWD'ing ship comes for you, especially with EM weapons.. you have to run.
I would prefer to use the tank gifted to the Eagle and just work on the slight damage problem it has

Ok, thats very informative.
The one problem i understand that HAC's in general have is the mwd'ing/webbing/NOS'ing ships (Domi anyone?) The MWD wasn't for catch-up, more for getting out of range. However, I was looking at that change.
Im currently 200 PG short (give or take, as I havent actually tried it out) I dont see how taking out the MWD for less than 200 PG will give me the PG to fit bigger guns, when I cant fit what I have already - and you suggest dropping the PDS...
Just a few thoughts there
