Day 3 of Revelations. I have 150 or so components of varied oddness.
Here's what I found:
Not all Missions Have Salvage! It's pretty obvious that CCP didn't want this to become a "farming" thing in missions. Lots of folks reporting nada from a bunch of missions.
Some Missions Do! And some missions have a bunch! They picked and chose the missions that would drop. Drones haven't dropped anything. at least not yet, according to everyone. Navy ships? Nope. Angels? Yes, lots.
The bigger the ship, the more salvage possible Seems like the Battleships have a bunch more (4??)components, the frigates have just 1.
More Salvage Beams on One target speeds things up I was salvaging a lot more wrecks in 1 cycle with 3 beams aimed at one. Seemed to be that they also increased the salvage that was dropping, but maybe it was the ship type, maybe it was just random.
Belt Rats and security of the system matter Belt Rats were dropping around 80% for me. Lower the security, the more often it happened. I don't know if the security of the system affects "missioning" salvage, though. It seemed not to so far.
Train that Salvage Skill UP I noticed a huge difference between levels 1 and 3 for salvage. Much quicker, and its frustrating to sit around for a minute and get the "success!" message only to find out they were just kidding and there's really nothing in that wreck. Does the salvage skill affect the quality/quantity chance of the drop? Maybe I'm just hopeful, but it seems to...
There's A LOT of complaining, suggestions, and ideas about salvage and the devs are listening I saw Oveur post that the devs are monitoring the salvage situation. That's good! What a cool game, we get to help the formation of it. Thumbs up to CCP for that. Like maybe color-coding wrecks that have been looted, and other ways to make it less confusing for those of us who have 100 wrecks onscreen after a lvl 4 mission. Making it easier to get into salvage by lowering the req's, which will mean more components on the market and eventually more rigs, etc.
That's it. ---------- My Sig is CCP DEV and Moderator-Proof. but not pink proof hahahahhahahahahahahaha -PINK Crap! Pink! Aieee! |

That should be expected. There's a chance each cycle that you will successfully salvage something. Putting more salvagers on increases the chances that one of them will work the first time.

I just want to know if Mission.complex drones/npc are bugged when it comes to salvaged items.
Ie it would seem that they are left out. yes you can find salvageble items in mission however they seem to be from the NPC you can also find at a belt, with maybe a few exceptions.

If I had ú1 for every intelligent comment posted in general discussion, I'd be hideously in debt |

erk, you read the part about me having that, no?
I agree for the second time. Multiple salvage beams make it butter-smooth and fast. ---------- My Sig is CCP DEV and Moderator-Proof. but not pink proof hahahahhahahahahahahaha -PINK Crap! Pink! Aieee! |

I use a destoryer for rig component collection. 3 TB's and 5 Salvagers. Makes fast work of the looting especially if you have someone looting the wrecks infront of you, they put them in a big pile and you go salvage them all quickly.
If I am looting a mission for myself (so that involves loot as well) I fill my hold, jet a can with all the non rig stuff in it and then tow that behind me. Makes salvage alot easier and I BM the can and pick it up in a hauler later, 1 per section of the mission. ----
God gave us a brain, he also gave us a voice.
Shame some people have yet to connect them.

Well, if you don't loot the wrecks first, then they will be flagged as yours and your alone. If you do loot the wrecks first, then they are fair game for anyone with a salvage beam. No criminal flag, nothing. They can take it right out from under your nose. First come, first serve and all that.

Edited by: Da Ram on 01/12/2006 23:06:13 I am now through the second level 4 mission and any wreck I salvaged gave me "2006.12.01 22:56:03 Notify You successfully salvage from the Wreck. Unfortunately there was nothing to be salvaged."
What missions would give salvage - any idea ?
Thanks for your input on this, Ram

I put 6 salvagers and a tractor on a destroyer with a cruiser class AB, salvaging goes fast.

I really like your positive attitude. Its not common to read something positive here since people tend to whine instead of praise stuff, but you are very right in what you say. Keep it up. :)

Da Ram,
Da missions dat would give da best salvage are currently being investigated. That's somewhere in another thread, dorry I don't have da link atm.
What I've seen though is dat NO navy ships from races or drones give any sort of salvage so far, and others have confirmed dat. However, many kill missions are giving dasalvage. So its kinda random, it seems.
Hope dis helps Da Ram. ---------------------------------------------------

Raneru,
I read from other threads the patch notes confirm the lowering of the requirement is going to be to SURVEY IIIBut, as I mentioned, its clear the devs are listening and they will modify and adapt by this Tuesday. Probably other changes after that, too. ---------------------------------------------------
