Why is it that sometimes when I stop training a skill before it is completed I get the message that all training in that skill will be lost if I switch to something new (and it does reset)? While other times it just stops where it is at and I don't lose what I gained thus far?

The reason for this is you have aborted the training you were doing first which makes you lose points, to avoid lossing skill points just start your new skill.
**DONT ABORT THE OLD SKILL**.

unless its gotten worse very recently then its simply a display error that makes points in an aborted skill training appear to have dissapeared (since the training was started) but if you start training it again the points ususally re-appear .. you dont actually lose any

Most often question answered wrongly.
The text that if you 'ABORT YOU WILL LOSE THE TRAINING' is both old (it used to be that way in beta and early beta2...or now heh)
You do NOT lose skill points. Sometimes you get a display glitch and it LOOKS like it went back down...if you restart it again it'll pick right up where you left.

Abording the skill means you loos all skillpoints in that lvl you are learning.
You can start training another skill. The previous skill will stop but you don't loos points. Don't abort it to start another skill.
However, if you wanne switch to your alt, start a new lvl skill and abort there. You only loos some points and not some hours/days.

This one is for the people in back that may have missed it the first billion times it was said. You DONT loose any skills eitherway. The only way you going to loose any skills is if you die with a clone that doesnt cover your total points.
Again it doesn not matter if you abort or just start another skill you WILL NOT LOOSE ANY POINTS PERIOD.
