Ok, i have ú200 to spend on a graphics card but i cant decide wether to go with nvidia or ati...
I currently have an overclocked 6600 from nvidia and get about 30 fps running eve, max settings on 1440x900 res. I am quite happy with the nvidia card but i keep hearing that ati cards, whilst arnt as user freindly provide better performance and image quality .
The two cards im looking to buy are either the 7900 256mb series from nvidia or the x1950 256mb series from ati. If any of you guys own either of these cards could you please tell me what fps you get on your games and what settings you run them at, ty .

Here's a decent article including GeForce 8800 GTX & GTS, GeForce 7900GTX and Radeon 1950XT. Couldn't find another article which had a very good comparison about image quality, but GF8800>R1950>GF7900, with a large gap between Radeon and the older GeForce.
My personal order of preference would be:
1) Get a 8800 series 2) Wait for the 8600 series 3) Radeon 1950 4) GeForce 7900
Another thing to consider is eyecandy; the 8800 & 1950 can do HDR+AA at the same time, while the 7900 can't.

I would recommend waiting until Nvidia gets some competition and actually starts lowering prices a bit.

nVidia all the way, radeon drivers are ABSOLUTE GARBAGE.
if you want a real beast of a DX9 card the 7950GX2 is a monster, it performs slightly under the 8800 series. its powerful enough that my AMD X2 4000+(2.o GHz dual core) bottlenecks it badly. only real disadvantage is no HDR + AA at the same time, and the price tag is around $430 USD (note if you buy this go with eVGA, warranty covered overclocking + 3 months to decide to upgrade and only pay the price difference cannot be beat)
7k 3dMark06 scores on a single card are fun
oh yea game stats this card runs at 1280x1024 F.E.A.R. maxed everything 60+ FPS constant, NEVER drops below 40 no matter how hard i tired.
Oblivion maxed everything, 40+ FPS untill to many lighting effects start going off on screen, if i turn down/off shadows and dynamic lighting it stays above 40FPS constantly(note this could be my CPU choking on it)
Eve 40+FPS fleets are fun. nuff said.
