I was reading this, but I donÆt quite get it? Anyone understand exactly what the devs are talking about?
The missing 'loot with/without criminal flagging' (yellow and blue respectively) box that should surround wrecks in the overview will be resolved. Until the patch has been deployed, this may be activated by unchecking the 'Apply to Ships Only' option in the Overview settings under the Appearance tab. It might be necessary to change session, or reboot the client for this manual change to take effect.

Your own wrecks are always white icons. Non-corp, non-gang wrecks are yellow items (if you do that what's in patch notes). If you salvage that "yellow" wreck, you get criminally flagged. _____ -sig-

if you loot the wreck, you get flagged if you salvage the wreck you dont.
but of course you may have to loot the wreck in order to salvage...
so its pretty moot
Teamwork. is a lot of people doing what I say.

Your wreck w/no loot= White Somebody else's wreck w/no loot= White Your wreck w/loot= Blue Somebody else's wreck w/loot= Yellow
That's what I get from it.
You can salvage from anybody without flagging as long as there is no loot. But so many people just leave the loot behind, which makes trying to clean up belts a pain. I'd rather not be flashing red to half the people in the system just because I wanted to salvage their wreck but they left the civy booster or cap booster behind.

I like the solution someone mentioned in a different thread: A ship, when killed, drops a wreck AND a can. That makes it easy to ignore wrecks if desired.

As far as I can tell, the whole freakin wreck thing is a terrible idea and should be disposed of (unless the goal was to discourage people from doing missions).

I agree.
To the OP: In simple terms what it means is that your overview has a way of telling you if a wreck belongs to you or not. That in combination with the fact that when you loot a wreck it moves from being your property to a free-for-all can be used to tell you if you have already looted a wreck or not. This option is already in the overview settings it is just not on by default. All the patch will do is set it on by default.
This only fixes a minor part of the whole wreck/loot mess because you can just gang with yourself and manually tag the wrecks you have already searched. You still will have to seach all the wrecks, even if only about 20% of them actually have any loot, all the wrecks will still be clogging your overview and the loot window will stll be there unless you manually close it.
So, the simple answer is "no, this is not a solution for the 'wrecks' issue". ________________

Edited by: Tanya Raskov on 04/12/2006 10:31:54 I hate wrecks. They are really annoying. After two hours doing boring mission, I have to spend two more hours looting wrecks ? Now its bigger challenge to loot than to kill. In theory it sounded cool, in practice its disaster. The only one who can profit will be 'macro looters'. No sane person will enjoy it.
