when someone sets a private contract the person it was issued to cannot view the contract therefore cannot accept it, sometimes it works but most of the time this happens

I've had problems issuing a private contract as well as recieving one.

It does work, but you're looking in the wrong location. You'd think viewing contracts issued to you would be under the "My Contracts" tab.
However, private contracts issued to you are located under the "Available Contracts" tab.
To view them, set the "VIEW" filter to "ME" on the character recieving the contract.
I've had a 100% success rate retrieving contracts issued to me via this method.

Many thanks Caligulus, I feel like such a nub. I tested all the available private contracts and submitted a detailed bug report.. Excuse me while I bang my head against the nearest wall for a bit.

Thanks that worked.
I still think it is a bug/bad description, because you can't find that contract if you search in the region it was offered in.

I have had problems, even doing it the correct way. One way to make it work is to link the contract for your friend :) That way he can claim it fast and simple.
