I think it would be a cool feat with some in game movies that pictured your ship entering the hanger of a station. Of course i believe that the transition clips should be something optional so people that didnÆt want then could deactivate them.
Example:
(This would be a movie not containing any animation (dint know the professional term))
Your ship would be seen entering the main station entrance then you would follow the ship to its platform inside the station. Maybe the view would be from some of the inside station windows (all this would all be loaded in the trinity engine. And if the function is activated would also replace the loading bar).

That sounds cool. Do you mean like a slide show?
Maybe it could just show your hangar, like it does now, but instead of your ship magically floating there all of a sudden, you can see it come in through the entrance and glide over to its normal position.
I always liked docking in X2, because the stations all had different interiors, and it was like playing Descent as you cruised to a hangar bay. Or you could just hit the "instadock" button and get on with your business. Fun times.

hellyeah, i wanna actually see the ships getting towed into dock. that would be sweet.
short cut scenes you can disable if you want. could even activate when heading into a different npc faction space... the list is endless.

This'd be a nice idea provided especially if we could squeeze it into the time currently occupied by those loading bars.
