Unfortunately again ASCN are given no real challenge; muffins of mayhem were firing on FOUR of the ascn ships at once, no concentrated fire.
I think perhaps Muffins of Mayhem aren't in this thing seriously :) -

Edited by: Helganstandt on 02/12/2006 17:40:02 When your damped below 30k, and can't target the one you called primary, your drones will go to whoever. We're taking this seriously, ASCN just had a better setup. We tried to setup specifically for them with a rapier pilot (who has recons only at level 3, thus 28k web range max) and we just didn't get our damps off on the zealot in time is all.
At least this time the burst fired.
Edit: We also didn't have the money to run tech 2 setups. We're doing what we can in this tourney. The announcers just don't pay attention really to the fight. Saying that our smartbomb from the domi, which does like 100 damage every 8 seconds, was the reason our rapier died....so their analysis is just plain wrong. The rapier would have died faster with the drones on it. Had we been able to get damps off on the zealot, I think the fight would have gone a much different route.
WE had the same problem last year. They thought the ASCN pilot in the interceptor duel was running a pure rail setup and railed on him for it. I think the announcing needs some work tbh.

I wouldn't worry about what other people say or think you are actually particpating and they are standing on the sidelines. All you can do is what you can and nothing else forget about all the other negative bull peeps spout at you. It was a good fight and we are taking no one lightly.....

Edited by: Robert Dobbs on 02/12/2006 17:52:36 Ok, well, i'm glad to hear you're taking this seriously, but taking smartbombs into a tournament is never going to mean win :-/
The commentators can only say what they see. They dont' see the intricate details. -

no! anger them more! that is the most commentary I've heard on the subject in this entire thread!
seriously looking to find out EXACTLY what happened... none of the EVE commentators screwing up ships and guessing, looking for REALLY good commentary on ALL fights today...
I agree with Helganstandt completely... the announcing leaves something to be desired... I find myself correcting them (read as "yelling at my monitor in frustration") a LOT... I mean, the guys on there just don't come off as playing eve much... It'd be nice if we could get people who are tuned in with their team on TS just giving in-fight specific commentary... like in Iron Chef where the guys are talking and the one guy from time to time pops in with good information

The smartbombs were essential to our setup because we knew that the Eos and the Hyperion could get their drones off on us. Tech 2 heavy drones = not able to shoot down effectively with our drones and guns alone. Smartbombs we tested can take out t2 ogre's in about 14 volleys, meaning 2 could do it in 7 volleys, maybe less. The amount of damage our ships sustained because of it was minimal, as the smartbombs were thermal, and we all tanked for it. You're talking maybe 50-100 damage every 6 seconds, and usually once people see their drones getting hit, they recall, do this, and you keep drones off.
You'll notice in the fight if you can find a replay that ASCN had to call off their drones multiple times, and then only once the last of our celestis's was killed by the Zealot (which was supposed to be damped, but that failed on our part) did the Rapier go down...and even then it took a long time considerably. That's with Smartbombs firing the whole time.
I think our setup would have worked if I could have afforded sensor boost II's, as I could have damped the Zealot, he was just out of my range. Money does matter sometimes.
