With the influx of new bpo's, there is a extreme lack of ME slots that dont already have a 20-60day wait...
Any chance of a slot increase in the near future? I mean, i dont mind a few days wait, but upto 60days a little extreme perhaps

Although I do agree a 60 day wait to research something is maybe a bit excessive, but you are trading time for 100% safety and no "out of pocket" expense on your end for the lab.
I don't believe new slots are needed, they've added the methodology to add as many slots as the players need. Lab outposts can be constructed and lab arrays can be added to POS's and POS's can even be put in "Secure" space. What else do they need to do?
There should be some advantages to moving to less secure space and 0.0, and if you don't want to do that you can always put a POS in 0.5 or 0.6 system and research in complete safely with your own private labs...

The number of slots is probably fine, we just need the prices to rise faster/higher as they fill up.
And give a discount on slots with a queue, for those willing to wait.

I still think they shouldn't have removed slots. Problems finding open labs only really started after they revamped the whole science and industry. It would be nice if rather than all lab equiped stations offering exactly the same slot layouts, some might offer only ME slots or more ME slots at the expense of some of the station's lesser used slots. Is there any station where you actually have queues on the PE research?
It's not a huge problem, but it might be something to consider.

*automated response end*
If you don't like the lack of ME slots in your area, go somewhere else. Either move the BP out to 0.0, where there are frequently lots of slots open, set up your own research facility, or deal with the fact that you can't get a slot in a timely manner.

This basic complaint has been going on since before Exodus. Eighteen months later, CCP has provided tools for getting your BP in *at all*, and then to deploy your own research facilities. Forum posts are NOT a valid solution. ----------------------------------

There are a few corps around providing empire research services in their POS.
If you are in Gallente space for example, I might be able to get your BPOs into research. Further details via eve-mail or convo, please. :)

I have my slots in Caldari space. But there is more than a few of us who are renting out ME slots from high sec POS.
or you could run your own POS? (though it is a pain getting the standings)

If you set up a pos in 0,5 and above and set the labs to public, can anyone use the slots if they have that remote sience skill or is it still limited to corp members?

It's limited to Corp, even when you set them to public. The Allow Alliance members settings seem to be bugged too.

Really? I never had a problem finding immediatly available labs before the change at all. I'd routinely see stations that had 10-15 free lab slots at all times. It's only after they introduced the revamped system that I've been unable to find any free slots in any region for any price.
I'm not particularily concerned with ME slots since I don't do much induustry, but it would make sense for different NPC corps to offer different slot layout for research.

My experience with the old system was that while finding slots did take some work, it wasn't very difficult. I was first getting into research and after a day checking out a few of the research stations a few jumps from my corporate HQ (somewhere Khanid-related), I had rented several slots and was pushing Laboratory Operation up so I could rent more. I later closed those labs to use the MUCH cheaper lowsec labs.
So no, the old system was not anywhere near as bad as it is now. Now of course the player population has grown INTENSELY since then (if I remember right, 14k concurrent users was considered to be medium to high population), so I think a huge part of the issue is available slots. But no, labs were not NEARLY as hard to find back then.

On the other side, cheap massive BPC selling will suffer a lot with the new contract system. It was possible before to buy cheap BPOs, research them to stupidly insane levels and run copies to be sold on escrow until someone finds it one way or another.
So, over time, there should be hopefully a bit less pressure on the ME slots (once there are enough good ME BPOs for everything new) and we should be able back to copy with no queues anymore.
Hum ... dreaming is not forbidden, right ?

i would have to say, that having had to stop playing right before the revamp of science and industry, I can tell you that in my region at least the lab availablity has gone from maybe 30% avaiable to 20+ day wait...
i personally think that thats just a tad ridiculous.
i can understand a few days wait... but seriously, 20-60 days is just nuts

Research is moving to a POS basis. There are many out there who run such POS, and are renting out slots. For example, I can do research on T1 BPOs (including capital) at a reasonable rate if you contact me ingame, and if you look at the forsale forum there are plenty of others doing the same. I also have plenty of already researched cruiser and fighter BPOs - which now that selling the BPCs is a PITA I could be convinced to sell at a small markup from buying a new BPO and researching it up.

They should make it more like a real business.
You've got your ME researchers who are booked out for months and months. You've got your Copiers who are booked for weeks generally. You've got your Inventors who are currently idle. You've got your PE researchers who are almost always idle.
If this situation existed in the real world, the corp would lay off people from the unprofitable divisions and boost people in the profitable ones. And raise the prices.
I'd love to see the system become more dynamic and the number of slots shift around as demand shifts around rather than the static layouts we have now, and have the players be able to define the slot layouts on player owned structures.

The system used to be that a lab slot was a lab slot. You picked what kind of research you did in the lab slot. CCP stealth nerfed the avialability of labs by doing this grouping. In the process they reduced the amount of labs capable of doing copying or material research significantly.
So the current system is by design, not by oversight.
The Eve-Online forums may not have invented whining, but they sure have perfected it.
