Don't accept things over the courier missions and always always check the info of what you are about to buy in the trade. Make sure it is what you want before you buy! "I'm comin' for ya, and Hell's comin' with me!" |

Edited by: Othnark on 17/11/2003 14:39:17 I've requisitioned several brains, however all I can ever get them to do is make squishy sounds (and thats only if I open up the jars and poke them with a pencil through the fermaldihyde (sp)). Did you have to hook the brains up to electrodes and interface them to the USB port to help avoid scams?

Ah yes a good point. Never give money in exchange for nothing. Always get collateral for things you must give in advance, i.e. minerals for B.Y.O.M. deals. This won't be 100% as good as the minerals, but certainly lessens the blow if they still decide to keep the minerals. Keep posting your tips to avoid being scammed! First off I would like to point out a disturbing fact about the trade window. If you have something inside the trade window, say an 80million isk Battleship, and the server shuts down. Whatever was left in the trade window disappears. So always try to reduce the amount of time you have something sitting in the trade window.
Now here is what I do.. I open the trade and wait for the player to add the items I wish to purchase.. Then I accept the trade w/o adding my part of the deal. This gives me time to go over the info without worrying about the other guy making a switch. If he were to switch things while i'm checking them out, my little tick for accepting the trade will disappear.
Once i'm satisfied I have the right stuff. And my acception-tick hasn't disappeared due to tampering on the other end. I then add the money and re-accept the trade.
So basically I use the tick-acception thingy as a way to make sure a switch hasn't been made while I view the attributes of the trade commodity.
Doesn't matter though.. Suckers will always get scammed.
