I'm wondering, if I park my ship in space, leave it and board another ship, how long would it last in space?
Is there a time limit like jettisioned cans? If so, for how long?

I've seen an abandoned noob ship outside a space station linger there for over a month. At some jump in points you'll notice abandoned ships also. I'm not sure how long they stay, perhaps until someone salvages them or destroys them?
BTW, if you try to destroy an abandoned ship in high sec space Concord will whack you. I tried with an alt once
As for cannisters, they last two hours before exploding.

While they may last forever they tend to wander off. We had one wander off from a safe spot. It took us a couple days to find it.

There is a Kestrel at a jump-in spot in Catch which cannot be destroyed - I spent fully 5 minutes hitting it with 1400mm's and the last 1% of armour would not go.

Nah, someone mentioned the pilot may have ejected just as the ship was exploding and some bug rendered it indestructable.
I haven't seen it for ages though.

Keep in mind that some people will take any ship they find abandoned, if only to keep the neighbourhood tidy.
Abandoned noob ships are like free shuttles.

I found a ship once at a jump gate. jumped in it and then back to my original ship. guess the ship got tagged as mine after that because twomonths later i got a ingame conv with a player asking me about it. that was before the anchoring patch. whether or not that has anything to do with anything i don't know. If you can catch me you can have me. |

About 4 months ago I found a Thorax in a 0.0. Called in others to assist in its recovery, as at the time I could not opperate it yet. That made my day. I wonder where the pilot dissapeared to.....mmmmmmm......
