Edited by: Jarrod0987 on 03/12/2006 01:52:43 I would Like to start a thread here where people can give some possitive feed back about revelations. Things I love
-Major major Improvement in the lag area. Wow so much smoother :)
- Also I see the game is now much more playable ( no catastrophic lag or server crashes) with more then 25000 users in game and/or more then 112 users in mission systems like Aunia.
- Rigs are cool. Give more flexability to ships that already exist but for a price. I like it. Can we have a rig that increase drone bay size please :) I want it for my myrmidon:)
- I like the salvage idea. Maybe add a Salvage ship?
- Love the new ships. I love my new myrmidon. Great to have a drone user BC. Also that Caldari BC w 7 launchers looks deadly.
- The new star maps are very cool.
- Its nice that the probes have been changed. I liked the old triangulation Idea but it was kind of time consuming. This way is just nicer as it is a game after all.
- I love the idea of moving hidden areas
- I also am Told T2 damage control mod is out. I'm sure many will love that.
- I don't know what the invention skill that lets you break into T2 is called as I can't find it but I like that idea very much.
- Nice touches to improving the graphics without increasing lag :)
I know theres a few things that have to be adjusted yet but hey, It's way improved over RMR. If the game keeps improving this way It will be around for ever.
GOOD Job Devs :) Keep it up. If I forgot anything I appologize. There are so many cool new things I can't even remember them all.
All feel free to please add your support here. devs need to hear something besides flames all the time if they are going to keep doing such good work.

Agreed, considering the size of the changes and additions made by Revelations I think this went of rather smoothly and definately brings a lot more depth to the game
As for salvage, i really do like the idea of ships that get bonuses to salvage, maybe an industrial type, large drone bay, % bonus to salvage success, ability to fit lots of salvage mods and maybe a tractor beam range bonus, non-combat ships meant purely for after battle cleanup.
Good job CCP (Devs and coder monkeys included) :D Gratz Everyone's Favorite Canadian

Yay, positive stuff!
Warp to zero is great, it makes more sense RP-wise than any other solution to the bookmark problem.
Everything is prettier now, in very subtle ways that are important. Space is finally starting to feel a bit like space, for the first time.
Salvage and wrecks is sheer genius. I LOVE the way this works. Anyone who doesn't like the wreck system obviously doesn't care about things like immersion. Wrecks makes a lot more sense than what we had before. Yes it's more time-consuming - GOOD. Who says cleaning up a battlefield should be easy? Making it a specialised skill to extract salvage makes perfect sense, and you can always blow wrecks up if you don't want them. I think people are just annoyed because their lame can-looting macros don't work anymore. Lazy bums.
WCS changes are good, finally I can use them on my haulers and miners without having to listen to lame whining about why I shouldn't.
When they add walking in stations this game will be perfect.

Edited by: Frosty64 on 03/12/2006 03:26:50 its hard to tell if your all being serious or sarcastic. Ive had nothing but troubles since the patch.
New scanner is terrible (everyone ive spoken to hates it). -How is not being able to scan for rats a "Feature" -Its buggy as heck -For some reason its automatically set for 1,000KM... 1000KM? What are you trying to scan for? Since you cant scan for rats anymore... -Setting it for 2AU gets reset to 1000km at each login. -It seems slower than befor. I used to be able to pinpoint someone in under 10 seconds. now it seems to take at least 30
Salvaging means that no one EVER blows up their cans now. Cans were nice, take what you want and pop the rest. Now people think that wrecks are awesome and they are gonna get some uber stuff from them, and they NEVER POP THE REMAINS - Lag City
New map is Ok
Warp to Zero is still not as good as Insta Jump BM's. Ive had several instances where I was still to far to warp from a gate and had to slowboat it (sucks in a BS)!!......
Graphics improvement is nice, at the expense of CPU Usage through the roof and Major overheating Issues which many people are having.
Quote: When they add walking in stations this game will be perfect.
-- Did you ever play Earth and Beyond? I think that one had Walking around in stations and on planets. That was neat. I actually liked that over Eve but that one died out, and this is the only one left.

Well, let's define 'devs'.
If 'devs' are the guys spending their nights writing code, trying to get things to work, then yes, pat on the back.
If the 'devs' are the people who decide to go for huge chunks of massive changes for the sake of publicity stunts and boosting sales, instead of introducing gradual changes as they can, fixing the technical and balancing issues each creates before going for the next big thing that will 'sell' then a kick in the behind is what they deserve. ________________

I have complained about some things and will complain again.
On the other hand the over all games is excellent and this latest expansion is a very good one.
I love the game.
(fix wrecks so we know which have been looted cuz that's a pain in my afterburner). Nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure. |

Yeah, I dont think its better to be honest.
The new map (zooming out) animation is completely unnecessary. If Im getting jumped, I dont want to have to wait for the map to zoom all the way back to solar-system, then my ship, while I wait to see whats happening.
Graphics are glitched to hell. Planets are going nuts with their textures, I can see the rings around planets showing through the planets. White flash on jump. No "black screen" when I dock, black screen when I undock.
Sure, good to have new content, but they couldve ironed out some of these bugs.

It would be nice if the animation on the map was optional, as it is a bit long. I'm sure they will fix the graphical glitches. they did alot of work already :) it's only been a few days. :D |

Well unless you're also buying a Dreadnought at the same time, you won't have enough money for it.

Imagine a mining ship that takes 10 minutes to scan each roid and then fails to provide anything afterwards. What fun!
The entire salvage and rig implermentation are a fiasco.

A pat on the back? You are kidding of course, aren't you?
The stability and performance has gone out of the window. The last 2 days the game has become unplayable.
Take a look at some of the threads in Known issues and Workarounds.
There are literally hundreds of players that have become disenfranchised.
Granted they added some fabulous new content. But what good is it if it takes 10-15 minutes to get logged on only to find out the lag is unbearable?
A kick in the ass is more appropriate at this point than a pat on the back. there are free games out there that play better then this.

Then go play them... I like the changes. have only had one connection problem since the patch, much better performance on lag issues than before the patch (MUCH MUCH better), and i also love the direction in which the game is going...

You realize that the same 17 people and their alts are all that is in that thread eh? And happy people don't come to game forums to post in threads like this.. They are having too much fun in the game playing it.. Hell TBH most of the threads in this place are debated like this.. -->

I knew this thread would get overrun by whiners.
* Salvage and rigs are brand new. Give 'em a chance to fine tune it before you whine yourselves silly, kids. But the CONCEPT is awesome. And the implementation is pretty good so far and only going to improve. I've been ratting as before and have had no problems so far. It's not even THAT much slower, or even any less profitable. And yes I blow up my wrecks after I finish with them if I'm not salvaging. Oh and about needing Mechanic 5 and Survey 5 to salvage - AWESOME. CCP, YOU RULE. Why is this so good? I'll let you all think about that for yourselves...
* Insta jump BMs are gone and never coming back, you can bet on that. And they probably caused more lag than 1,000,000 wrecks. So now we have Warp To Zero, oh yes baby. Now pirates have to THINK to get kills. No more lazy solo snipers sitting miles out from a 0.4 gate in their Megathron with their 425 T2 gun thingies for hours, popping everyone that goes by and calling it "gaming". All the loser boring pirates will now leave and only the smart ones will be left. This is how it should be. Ye Olde Pyrates worked in small teams and used smarts and cunning to overcome enemies and snare the "booty", so too in the new EVE. CCP I love you and want your babies.
* A specialised salvage ship is an awesome idea! Make the Minmatar one the best, because Minmatar have ships that look like they're built from salvage anyway... I haven't looked into the stats yet but I reckon that Minmatar should be the salvage gods of EVE because it seems to fit their backstory the best... they should have more rig slots or something...
* People who whine about lag ***** me up. It's the internet, folks. It's not perfect. If you want to play games online, especially games with over 20,000 people frequently logged in at ONCE (omg), you have to get used to lag. Simple. Now learn to love it, or at least deal with it, because it's not going away. Lag is your friend and it will be sticking around. Especially in Jita. Going to Jita and complaining that it lags is like going to a peace march and complaining about hippies. But I can always log in immediately, and never have any lag issues. Even in Jita my only lag was because my own computer had trouble drawing all the objects near a gate - a computer upgrade later, and suddenly no problems there. Hmmm, funny that - maybe not CCP's fault after all - heaven forbid! * Map zoom - if it's a high-pressure situation - why the hell are you looking at the map in the first place? Shoulda set your warp-out planet before you got into so much trouble, like it says in the noob guides... anyway it's realistic to expect that a real-life starmap might take just a few secs to open... especially if Microsoft makes the operating systems inside starships... anyway I love the new way the map works. It really makes you feel like you're a tiny insignificant dot in a massive galaxy. This is good. This adds atmosphere and immersion, and... oh that's right - most players don't care about that sort of stuff because they play EVE like Space Invaders. Silly me.
* Whine threads have more posts because people who are happy tend to just be quiet and happy. Most people don't post unless they have a problem with something.
But... people love to complain. There are other threads for whining. Go whine over there. Use this one to say nice stuff about how excellent Revelations is (and it is). Go on - you know you want to. I love it and have had nothing but good times since the patch came out. Yeah there's a few problems, a few glitches - so what. CCP are doing a great job I reckon, and EVE is one of the most well conceived, stable, bug-free, crash free (not one crash for me - ever) multiplayer online games I've ever played. The only weak spot about EVE is the players, and even at worst, they're still slightly more mature across the board than most other games of this type.
100% sarcasm free.

I find it funny that anyone that doesn't heap unconditional praise on CCP has the name "Whinner" thrown at them.
I have only played the game for a little over 3 months. It has steadily gotten worse in terms of performance.
The new content rocks! I love it. However, waiting 15-20 minutes to get in and then soo much lag that you can't do anything with the game doesn't deserve praise.
I am thinking maybe those that haven't enountered bad lag are playing at different times of the day from me.

Well, the OP said:

So I reckon anyone who uses THIS thread to complain, instead of the other threads set aside specifically for that purpose, is whining.

Considering Revelations is just part 1, I am confident there are fixes to come, and I'm quite happy with Revelations as it is.
If you think back to other patches btw, you always have the normal post-patch fixes etc for a few weeks, its a lot better this time than it usually is. Siganture removed due to profanity - Serathu ([email protected]) |

Hana.... my gaming rig has a 6 mbit (fairly standard) connection.... dual high end nvidia graphics cards... 2 gigs of ram, and a handy single core chip that tosses out 3.2 GHz. I have a hard time believing that my lag issues and those of people like me who own high performance machines, are products of our hardware.
That is all.
