Here's something we could do to alleviate Jita spam : If CCP added support for subscription based block list that would be managed by players. For CCP it would reduce the amount of traffic since the check against the block list could be done on the server side. The block list would be moderated and players would submit scammers and other undesirable elements to the block list. Other players would subscribe to it and auto-block everyone on the list.
Thoughts? |

Even if there is something like a "majority vote" on subscription based blocking (meaning it would take more than one petition ot make someone netdead), I can easily imagine Goonswarm sockpuppets (the first example coming to my mind, if there are worse ones, go ahead) crowding on people and opinions they don't like.
No. Who you block and don't block should remain your own decision. Maybe make it that you can extend your own block to the whole account and not just a single character, but it should NEVER influence what others read or don't read.
A "lighter" version would be the possibility to import and export block lists. So everyone may decide for himself if he wants to download a block list from a self-proclaimed anti-scammer site.

No, you have the option to block. Im all for freedom of speech, if it bugs you, block them. As Rina said above, its not all that hard to abuse it, and who will actually manage that list? Seems like a good waste of both time and money.

good idea but cant be done in EVE. this is EVE after all. you will have corps or even whole alliances having all their members and their alts put you on block list just because they dont like you or want to ransom you for some reason. |
