Yeah. I just saw them camping the gate towards another system beginning with "o". I counted 1 scorp, 1 mega and 2 BB's (I wasnt looking very hard), and something else and they couldnt even destroy my incursus. So not much of a threat but beware Mmmmmmmmmmmmm, Waffles |

Edit: Nomatter how well equipped you are, you got no chance if you are on a slow computer

Where exactly would you like the pirates to kill you? ______________________________________________

I agree with Xtreem, The loading issue should be addresed A.S.A.P. (I understand that this may not be easy to do but is a must) "ÆIn accordance with the principles of double-think it does not matter if the war is not real. For when it is, victory is not possible. Edited by: MojoRock on 18/11/2003 16:08:28 Avon, pirates can kill you anywhere they want in 0.0 space. They will argue that they can't camp at gates anymore, but that is a bald face lie. What they won't admit, is that they like camping JIP from empire space to 0.0 space. Ie. EC-P. This allows them to take advantage of any ship passing by without any risk to them at all. Your computer could be the best on the market, and you still wont ever see the display before your already caught. There are choke points all through 0.0 space, and not one sentry gun to be found.
So, to those risk taking pirates in EC-P. I challenge you to actually back up a whole warp to the next gate and sit there instead taking advantage of poor game performance.

actualy i bought my computer last February and i have no problems at JIPs...and by the way, anyone that wants to see the reality of gate camping can come in a shuttle and sit beside me for a few hours. send an eve-mail if u want to test this out :P

People who think JIP camping is easy obviously have never tried it.
At least 70% of people get away, probably more.
Saying you can pirate in any 0.0 space is rubbish.
Pirates can't fight you at a belt, or near a station or at a gate - in each case the invunrability timer allows even the most inept player to warp away .. although stupid players are another story.
People who get killed at JIP's are victims I agree, but they are not victims of the pirates but of their own neglect.
I am fed up with people moaning about piracy or ganking, it has gone too far. Already there is hardly any way to force people to fight. If players want to avoid fighting they should stay in secure space, if they want to travel outside of it they should be prepared to take the associated risks.
If you want JIP camping stopped then fine, but at least rethink invunrabilty timers. Kill PvP combat, kill Eve.
I really don't understand this 'I want to be able to go anywhere I want unmolested' attitude. Without risk where is the excitement?
There seem to be a lot of players who think they have a God given right to turn the game into some hippychick flowerfest ... well I disagree. They have lots of places for their hand-holding-pot-smoking-free-loving parties in nice safe systems, but if they set foot outside I am quite happy to introduce them to the world of the hard working trader. ______________________________________________

Maybe I failed to make a point. If the only method of pirating is taking 3-5 battleships with full drones out at a JIP, knowing full well that you will lock, warp scramble and pod someone before they even see the screen, then who can really call that PVP. More like PVCL. But your correct, 1 person camping a JIP doesnt have near that chance of getting 100% victims. My issue comes from doing this in a system that only has one entrance and one exit. Its just as easy to sit at the gate and wait knowing full well they have to go that way or turn around and give up. This at least gives a chance for a victim to slowly move up and try to get by or engage in PVP. And it might be more exciting to have 2 people chase people around and flush them out while others remain at the gate. At least thats sporting, and yes, its PVP, not PVCL.
Note... to those without an imagination, PVCL is player vs. comp lag.

MojoRock, You have no real clue do you?
GATE CAMPING: The long lost tradition is now outdated do to some very serious game flaws. Empire gates have sentry guns that will rip you a new one if you even think about camping. You are now left with the very low traffic of 0.0 space, but even when you get a target there are flaws. When a person warps into a jump gate they have 10 seconds of free time. This time was intended to save the player from lagging out when warping into an infested gate. The problem is that once someone has loaded the grid they get to use that 10 seconds to activate MWDs. By the time the 10 seconds is up and the pirate is allowed to target the incoming ship is traveling in excess of 3,000 m/s and only about 14-20km from the gate. This leaves the pirate with 6km and about 2 seconds to demand a toll or shoot. Neither is possible as there are no guns in the game that can track someone going that fast. And no, using a scorpion with 8 webs does not do the jobàtrust me.
SOLUTION: As soon as someone activates any module his or her 10 seconds of invulnerability is gone as the person is no longer lagging. If, AND ONLY IF that is not enough maybe micro warp drives should be nerfed in the same/similar way cloaking devises are.
JUMPIN CAMPING: This controversial tactic is completely retarded. Yes I am a pirate. Yes I have used this tactic from time to time and I am growing very bored of it as it is not only cheap but it is not very fun either. At least in gate camping there is more room for both parties to do something about the engagement.
SOLUTION: There are many but the most popular one seems to be randomizing jumpin. But the REAL way to solve this is to fix the problems with gate camping. Then pirates would go back to the gates as it is a lot more fun and realistic.
HUNTING: This is my favorite form of pirating and requires the most skill out of all forms of pirating. I wont go into the details of this tactic for obvious reasons. It is the only tactic where people donÆt yell out exploit because there is no way to exploit it.
SOLUTION: It aint broke so donÆt fix it.

Hey Doc, wouldnt it also work if you remove the 10 invul if they activate a MWD at the same time doing something about the rats and anti-rats attempting to lag ppl out?

Doctor, I appreciate all your helpfull replies... but you failed to read the post or even use the few neurons afforded to you. The situation I was discussing WAS in 0.0 space. There are no sentry guns. There is only one way in and one way out. One leading from empire space and one going further into 0.0 space.
I repeat... the area mentioned in NOT in empire space.
I am truly sorry that it has become difficult to kill people in this game. I am all for PVP contact and love a good battle. I just see no reason to play against server lag. I would rather actually see my target before I am in a pod.
And before everyone jumps on the "well just leave flame wagon" I have no problem avoiding the situation if I choose to. Its just a matter of sitting for hours watching the map until the pirates get bored of taking advantage of computer lag and go away. So be it. I use to love running past a good solid gate camp. Some times I lost, some times I made it. It was great fun anyway. I truly miss that excitement. I simply dont see the reason to camp a JIP when the prey has to warp to the only gate in the 0.0 system available to continue into non-empire space. The only reason for this is for pirates to take away any chance of PVP.
