Hia
Was just wondering if anyone had tested HAM's properly, in PVE and PVP case(s). wondering if I should bother with the training or not. Have heard they are a bit pointless from a few sources; lower damage, greatly reduced range, but faster firing...
Info from Caldari BC setups mainly and possibly cruisers
Only post if you have tried them please, I know the ins and outs already..

Heavy Assault Missiles are to Heavy Missiles as Blasters are to Railguns.
Higher DPS, lower range.

Mmmmm.
As for Heavy Assault Missile launchers they seem ok. I've heard some numbers being thrown about that don't sound overly impressive though. 25% more damage than Heavy launcher II's with a massive range penalty and poor manoeuverability in your Drake.
Time will tell.

A HAM launcher does 33% more dmg over time than its standard heavy missile equivalent. The missiles fire faster but do less damage per hit. They take a severe penalty to range. A standard t1 HAM launcher on a cerberus w/the skill range bonuses I believe hits up to around 20km-30km.. Which is pretty darn good compared to the optimals of blaster/autocannon platforms, though obviously still not quite as good DPS.
IMO I'd rather have regular heavy missiles, not have to fit an afterburner, and use DPS rigs (for lvl 4s anyway)... For PVP, I wouldn't use any ships that use heavy missiles.
