Here's my setup for level 3s:
Highs: 7x Megapulse 1x Large Nos
Mids: 1x AB 1x TC 1x Web
Lows: 2x MAR 2x HS 1x TE 2x EANM
Works wonders, and is easy on the SP count. You can upgrade a lot of the stuff with better skills than mine. FOR THE EMPEROR!

Some suggestions:
1. Use weapons of the same range, mixing ranges is not a good idea. Go either 7x megapulse or 7x dual heavy beam for ratting 2. Train cap skills, especially energy system operations and energy management 3. Fit 3x cap chargers in mids. May want to go with 2x cap chargers and an AB depending on how fast you want to move about 4. Plate is not a great idea for ratting, drop it (resistances and sustainable tank is important than total HP for ratting) 5. Try 5x hardeners on the geddon, can work well. 3x main NPC damage type and 2x second NPC damage type 6. Fill remaining 2 lows with heat sinks/cap power relays depending on tanking/damage requirements

Its a level 3 in a bs. Mixing and matching range doesn't matter. When you mix and match, you don't have to rely on drones if your fitting beams or an ab if you fittings pulses. Its not like cruisers on levels need a full rack of large turrrets to break their tank. As for tank, whatever fits after you put 3 HS IIs in. Hell i would put MWD on it and cap injector and mwd to the next jump gate while aggroing the whole room.
Now if its level 4, then its completely different. Beams, sentry drones and a resist based tank.

Edited by: Sector Merchant on 06/01/2007 21:45:10 I plan to use an armageddon to farm lvl3 missions, since they are supposedly the best time/money ratio missions, hows these for a setup :
7 Mega Afocal Pulse Maser (to be upped to Modulated when isk allows)
100mn AB Langour Webber Electrochemical Med Booster
3 Skadi HS 3 Fourier Tracking Comp 1 Large Vestment Reconstructor (named Rep 720/cycle) 1 Triple-Sheated Nano Plating
10 Med Drones 5 Small Drones
Would it do well? I had no troubles at all tanking in Harbinger, Brutix or Myrmidon in lvl3 missions, but they were better resistance, Med Rep II tanked. The whole point of this ship however, is to simply blast anything and move on; heat sinks for a lovely damage boost, and tracking enhancers to pretty much always hit and hit hard, (they increase chances of wrecking hits right?) and some improvements in range, mission farming like I said. I have a dedicated Salvager Destroyer to be used later in some missions.
It all shoots at optimal (+9km falloff) roughly 15km (Multrifrequency), 21km (Xray) and 30km (Standard).
Cap Hold fine with just guns firing, and also holds with Rep on for enough time with liberal use of 800 Boosters.
Questions thou,
Would the tank hold out against the worse lvl3? I pretty much ignored it besides some key modules. Would a Large Rep do enough to cover the loss of resistances compared to my previous BC?
Can it be done without a especific hardener? (lazyness of me)

Considering frigates will bein the vast majority, fitting 7 large guns is not the way to go.

I see plenty of cruisers and battlecruisers. But even with Pulse (better track) Guns + 3 Tracking Mods + Web + Drones?
Be in mind I havent tried the ship yet, just need advice before building it.

In all honesty using a BS for 3's is mind numbingly easy. Hell, using a BC I havent personally found a single lvl 3 yet I cant sleep thru with reaonsably placed skills.
Still, do what you enjoy. :)

The best Amarr ship for level 3 missions imho is the Harbinger - something like:
7 x Heavy Beams, whatever Ab, (optional webber,) Cap Rechargers Med Rep II, 2-4 hardeners, (optional named CPR,) heatsinks
You can play around with the specifics to find what works best with your skills, but I find that cruiser sized guns always hit better than bs sized when you're up against frigs and cruisers at medium-close range.

use a battlecruiser, you get bonus to mid range weapons and have just as many weapons. a drake can do them faster than your geddon and still have uber tank, and with BC 3 or 5 you can just use kinetic missiles (20% bonus)

High's 7 Heavy Beam Laser II /Multifrequency 1 Large NOS
Mid's 100mn Ab II 1 Fleeting Web 1 Cap Recharger II
Low's 1 MAR II 2 EANII 1 Damage Controll 1 Heat sink II 3 CPR
Medium Drones
Will run forever without the AB going, And is more than enough for a level 3. Or fit a large Rep II and just fire it once every so often.
