Hi, i m Caldary, in the process of completing some mission i recently adquire some "Amarr navy midshipman", they are some small metal ID plates, like soldier's one... Later on, I even forget that i have them in my cargo hold, when i tried to make some jumps the game advised me that they are consired contraband in some of the systens that i would be passing throw. What are they? What are they for? What do i do with them?... thx 4 the help.

They're sold to the proper authorities. They substitute bounties. Check the market for buyers.

Even though they are listed as contraband it only means for these items that they can not be sold in regions belonging to the faction they originate from (Amarr Navy tags can not be sold in Amarr regions). They can be transported around safely though, the custom ships will never react to any kind of insignias.
The Amarr Navy insignias can be sold in some Minmatar stations for profit. ---------------- Mr. Science & Trade Institute |

Try the item database:
http://www.eve-online.com/itemdatabase/tradegoods/insignias/caldarinavy/m_15596.asp
This tells you which NPC corporations buy them. You don't need to go to their headquarters, any of their stations will do (AFAIK).
A shame that the station map is not really useable though.

Tags can be quite valuable and in my experience can be sold in low sec systems in the region they were acquired. In Minmatar space Amarr and Caldari tags can be sold in 0.2 Federation logistics stations - check the market for buyers and look for a consistent amount. Missions drop several tags (captains, commodores, etc) and they all have value based on the quality of the target. I believe that the more tags you sell, or the more faction ships you destroy to get tags and finish a mission - the worse your faction standing becomes. Can anybody verify that? If you don't care, in missions like Human Cattle it may pay to wait for respawns to cash in and also some deadspace mining opportunities - don't finish the final mission and milk the others.

Not true before revelations, not sure since then. I lost about 15 million in Caldari tags when I was transporting all my tags en masse to my new home and passed through high sec Caldari space. I think I even still have the mail they sent me. But again, this was pre-Rev.
