Hey guys, i don't know about you, but i think we need a system were bounty-hunting is a worthwhile profession, that would make the game so much more exciting.
I just had this cool idea, sorry if there already was a similar thread...
So at the moment there is no reason to place a bounty on someone who killed you, because when there is enough bounty on the pirates head, he will just pod himself with an alt. So you just donated him isk for killing you, nice..
Instead we need a punishment for the pirate.
Something like this, if you get podded with a bounty above 50k, you can't undock from your station for 1 hour and your skill training will halt for 1 hour.
Above 100k bounty - can't undock for 2 hours, training halted for 2 hour. Above 500k bounty - can't undock for 3 hours, training halted for 3 hours. Above 1mil. bounty - can't undock for 4 hours, training halted for 4 hours. Above 5mil. bounty - can't undock for 5 hours, training halted for 5 hours. Above 10mil. bounty - can't undock for 6 hours, training halted for 6 hours. Above 50mil. bounty - can't undock for 14 hours, training halted for 14 hours.
From here on it will require 10mil bounty for 1 additional hour of punishment, until 100mil.
100mil. bounty - can't undock for 19hours, training halted for 19 hours.
From 100mil. on it will require 20mil. bounty for each additional hour. So if some person would get to 500mil. bounty he wouldn't be able to undock/train for 39 hours.
You also shouldn't be able to use jump clones if you are at a certain bounty.
Only the player who got killed can place a bounty, to prevent abuse. Additionally, for each ship kill, concord will automatically place a bounty of 1% from the base price of the ship.
What the pirates gain by this you ask? More fights..
But this might not balance the punishment, so i would suggest to make the low secs more appealing to carebears. For that i would suggest one of the following: Occasionally low battleship rats spawn in 0.3-0.1 systems, the 500k ones.. Or place all level 4 agents with a quality of 0 or above in low secs.
With this, bounty would have a bigger meaning, and you could actually see who are the most feared pirates. Add a news section to the new bounty office, which shows when a bounty hunter podded a pirate to "honor" the bounty hunter.
With the new signs in local, like corp/ally members ect., there should be a new sign for bounty hunters who have atleast a security standing of 1.0, and haven't received a security decrease in the last month. They would also need 3 succesfull pod kills against pirates for this.
Then players might feel safe when a bounty hunter is with them in the system, and the pirates could profit from that.
Let me know what you think guys, I myself like to pirate and think this would be awesome.
