Queted from the front page news.
Quote: A new peak concurrent user record was set Sunday, Dec 3rd when 32,955 users were logged into EVE Online: Revelations. This would not be that significant if not for the outstanding performance the Tranquility server demonstrated under this enormous load. According to preliminary log analysis the server cluster was at 47% capacity - A clear indication that the new Revelation expansion along with the accompanying hardware upgrades has brought the cluster to a new level.
now tell me. why do we still have lags everywhere?.. maybe you could turn up abit on the performance..

...and yesterday, on Monday, lag was so extreme... just few examples: -waiting 10-30 seconds to game show me content of container -waiting ~20-40 seconds to jump to other system -entering/leaving stations took many time ~20 seconds...
But to show that this was NOT my local problem - I must say that without any delays I could fly around systems, I mean that ship responded under 3sec for 'warp to' commands...
but yeah, let's BE HAPPY, 33k ppl online... so nice... and let ignore increased lag, the only important thing is ppl count!

i hope we newer know
You know... more players = more cash. I must say that for CCP cash $$$ is a real priority, NOT client goods (sad but true :/ ).
Even if for example most angry ~500 players decide to cancel subscription in this month... new 1000 players will come, and you know money is money (CCP is NOT a humanitarian organization, they made this game for cash, nothing more).

Well the unfortunate thing, when the newer games come out at the end of 2007, CCP may be left as SOE was...when 3/4 of the user base left. Imagine that... of the 1/4 remaining...half of those are isk farmers...

I thought the servers were suppossed to be up at 1500....not "Starting up in 15 mins" at 1500.... LOL now I am just getting picky (an a little mad that they didnt address the problems with the bonuses being passed on from WC-SC.),,,...But why is it that right on the 1500 dot... they initiate the server start up at 15 mins.....>>?????

With game patch releases I think a wait up to ~2 hours off schedule is good. Half hour is extremely good. Let's hope it sorts some of the problems out.

Am I the only one getting pretty nervous right now?
Perhaps we should have a sweepstake at guessing what monumentally bulbous idea they've come up with now.
Or it could be as simple as they found that the new hardware upgrade works better if you plug the power cord in.

But performance was outstanding, so all of the improvements must be with the client. Outstanding.

During that Sunday there were also many people getting dropped and having to wait in a login queue to get back in, so when exactly did all these users actually stay in the game? I saw the user count go from 27k to just under 18k before I was able to get back in after being dropped. The 33k must have been the total amount of players that logged in during the day, not all at once for any length of time.
Eve has been around a few years and only has a user count in the 30k range, this should say something right there. Most games of this type have 100k plus users and perform better, several of which are free to play.

UPDATE:
While apprehending the beer abuser, one of the more promising technicians was diligently licking the beer drops from the ram chips. In doing so, he accidently grounded a transistor on the ram, thus frying that Ram board.
While staggering out of CCP HQ to get on his pedal bike, he ran into the glass door busting his nose. We are now looking for a CCP person that has not drank as much to run to the local store to pick up a new stick of ram.... thank you for your patience.

I witnessed the 33K players, what i also witnessed was a laggy systems and a weird disconnecting of a total of +11K players. When loggin in again the total of players was 21K or so..
Far from "outstanding performance" if ya ask me..

Edited by: Terminus adacai on 05/12/2006 17:26:31 "Outstanding Performance"? WTF? Are they nuts!!!!!??????
There was nothing outstanding or performing about it. That just goes to show that they really do not get it. A sad state of affairs.
After only being up 15 minutes, they now have to do an emergency reboot. It looks like today is another wasted day, as was this whole past weekend.
Quoted from server status " Going down for a quick reboot at 17:25 to address the cascading node deaths we are experiencing."

New Update: (sorry I was late on posting this...got preoccupied)..
CCP management had found a stick of Ram laying around the office so popped that puppy into place before they sent their usual beer runner out to the local computer store. As they rebooted the computers, they were so exstatic that they sent the beer runner out for more beer.
Well we all know what happens when we assume a stick of ram laying around is good!
On further inspection... that stick of ram was cakaed with margarita mixer, thus even though the server worked, it was unstable.
Luckily the pub was next door, as we was able to drink the beer as we sent the beer runner out for a new stick of ram.... Hold tight!
