For the "Chinese law" issue
a lot misunderstanding i saw
not like what many people think, its actually a "online game addiction preventing system", which, will cause SP related things to stop increasing after a certain acculumated period of time.
The original purpose of this system is to relief many social problem related to the addiction to the games of the youngsters. (such as WOW)
Though it is not likely to be implemented on the EVE at all

I find the reasoning behind "all isk farmers are chinese because their character names are" to be quite wrong, to say the least.
After all, you dont have to be Chinese to use a Chinese name for your character, and if the ISK farmers catch on with the fact that people think they're Chinese, it makes sense they'd start using Chinese names, to throw anyone off their REAL trail.
I found the racist comments on this thread quite appaling.

I've played Eve on Tranq in China before the new laws regarding online games went into effect. One law that's has been "enforced" for a while, even when I was playing, was that if you are under 18, you can't PvP, at least I think that's what the signs said. Recently MMOs or any game where you skill up has had to enforce certain mechanics regarding the accumulation of SP. I don't know the exact time limits, but essentially after you play for about 3 hours your accumulation of XP, or in Eves case, SP would deteriorate. After 6 hours you wouldn't gain any XP at all and only until a cooling period has expired can you gain 100% XP gain. Chinese Communist Party hasn't outlawed any games, there's just limitations to how much time you can play.
but to answer the OPs question, There isn't much lag, it's very, very playable.

It's an activity that can be lucrative in most countries of the world (all of them?). Swallow back your hypocrisy people... You're prolly playing with people in your corp or alliance who bought their accounts or isk on ebay. And you may even know for sure in some cases they did. And you may as well know people who already sold isk or accounts on ebay.
I've been playing long enough to say that I saw this personaly several times... And usually ceos from corporations recruiting people with ebayed accounts don't give a ****.

Did you play in an Internet bar or wherever you stayed? I was in Shanghai for 6 months last year. If you were anywhere in Putuo district, i got this one place on Jingshajiang Road to install it for me. It was one of the Eastday Netbars.

True. But, here, English is the official language, much like in China, putonghua is the official language. It doesn't matter how many people on Earth speak Chinese, it's only polite. If I were to go on Eve China's forums I would do my best to use Chinese.

I don't have a good understanding of how much real life money the isk farmers get but I do know that in my home town in Canada a McDonalds employee makes about 2000 CAD per month (1800 USD or so). A high school grad that gets a job as a sucurity guard or something would get around 3000 CAD per month. A journeyman carpenter /weilder /whatever makes about 6000/mo. Now I know there are places in the world that make about 100 CAD per month. So say for example isk farmers make 500 CAD per month. If that's a good income in your country you're much more likely to do it. In my country that equates to a paper route and a waste of time for most adults. In some places in the world you could live in a house and hire a housekeeper for that.

I dont remember what magazine i saw this in, but there was an article dealing with online ingame item selling, which was netting some people with an annual income in the six digits, in USD. With potential profits that high just from doing trading of ingame items for real money, i'm sure there are people from all over the world who are doing this.
EDIT: back to the topic of the OP... Yes, you can play on Tranq in China. I've done it this past summer. However, be prepared for a 5-10 minute login time. After that tho, the lag seems to be fine.

Come to my side of the world, there a bunch of chinese players here.... how do i know they're chinese you ask, well because they speak chinese in local right before they do logofski, and keeps saying "kao" which i'm guessing is means "hi" ?
But it might be tough for you to commonicate with them, for the reasons being they insta log as soon as you jump in system, and insta log on with the other character in next or 2 over systems to get their 1st character to disappear.. and so on. Sometimes we "meet" with them and have a "nice chat" if we're lucky and quick enough, most of the times... it's just a frustrating cat vs... logofski
P.S. Would be nice if their ravens droped somethign nice once ina while though but oh welll..

Yeah? And how many of those Chinese speak english? Maybe 10% of them speak it quite fluently, and 50% of them speak it with a fair degree of skill. Put cloaked recons in their prefered systems permanently. If they leave those systems, follow. If they begin to farm while you are there since they cant wait any longer, kill them.
How long do you think the company employing the farmers can afford to wait to begin making isk again before they fold, or have no choice but to go back to hugh sec mining where profit margins are lower and visibility/suicide ganking is higher?

We do that already, but I really have no desire to waste all of my time and energy on these lame folk

I find it funny that to us players we can spot (mostly chinese) farmers everywehre, but CCP cant.
CCP created EVE. CCP is almost as all-knowing when it comes to whats happening in EVE as the christian god is all-knowing when it comes to whats happening on Earth.
Then why is it that WE, the players who do not have all the infromation at our fingertips, who do not have the ability to literally rewrite the code of the universe, are able to spot these guys but CCP cannot(will not?)?
Oh sure, CCP makes a few token bannings here and there, but if they wanted to stop the (mostly chinese) farmers, they definately could.

true but if you count the number of people who know English as a second or third language. English becomes the more common language. English is sort of the common language in India and many many people in Japan,Korea and even many people from china know English as well.
for instance i know in china that anyone who wants a university degree is required to pass a English proficiently test, even if such a degree is in Chinese history.
but rather then make this a my language is better then your's argument. Lets just agree with when on a English forum or country let us try and speak English. Likewise when i visit China next year I will try and speak Chinese.

I agree with all of your words.I admit that most of ISK farmers are Chinese.And that law of China are limited some of our freedom.BUT....in fact...most of Chinese ISK farmers, they play 1 or more accounts with 1 computer or more.Not ALL CHINESE are farmers.Just like me,I am not a farmer,just a player,who love this game and enjoy it every day.You guys must understand,play EVE in Chinese server,I got to pay 66 RMB per month,but at euro server,I have to pay 115 RMB per month.You know the difference of 49 RMB means what to a student.I pay 49 RMB more just I like you foreign guys.Most of my friends are help me a lot.I really thx them.The Chinese guy who you don't like just one of us.But most of us are love to play this game.NOT TREAT EVE AS A TOOL OF EARNING MONEY.
