I hoped it would be fixed in latest patch, sadly it was not. Also i tried to find more people complaining about it with no succes. So is it just me or is it even bug? As fleet commander or wing commander, no bonus was applied for any1 in gang bellow my rank (as was noted by TomB) but only to myself. As squad commander, my squad gets all bonuses as it should be. Bug reported even the official way so fix it please!

Did you train Wing Commander? I skilled it to level 1 and a squad below me receives gang bonuses if I'm in the same system as the squad.

I got Wing Command 2 and i was in a gang of 2 people with me as Wing Commander and the other person as a member of Squad 1.
When i was Wing Commander he didn`t receive any bonus from my links. Same with me as Fleet Commander (don`t have Fleet Command trained, just for reference), but when i was Squadron Commander he received my bonus which is very odd and ruins a lot of possibilities.
This is my lazy attempt to make an uber-signature, please go away!

As far as I understand the new Gang system, you have to use a Squadron Commander for each squad. When you create a Wing, to join multiple Squadrons, the Gang will receive the Wing Commander boni only, if all Squadron Commanders and their Squadmembers are in the same System and undocked. So for example:
Wing Commander | |--> Sqadron Commander 1 | |--> Squadmember 1 | |--> Squadmember 2 | |--> Sqadron Commander 2 |--> Squadmember 1 |--> Squadmember 2
In this constellation, all Squadmembers, the Squadcommanders and the Wing Commander should receive the Wing Commander's gang boni. The Wing Commander will need the Wing Command Skill on level 2. Maybe its working without a Squadron Commander for each Squad too, but I have not yet testet it.

I can confirm the bug, I have tested it on a big fleet and on a small, minimalistic version, too. Setup was the following:
Fleet [no commander] | |-> Wing 1 | |-> Wing commander with wing command 3, flying command ship | |-> Squad 1 | |-> Squad commander with leadership 5 | |-> Squad member
Eveyone in the same grid. With this configuration, the squad members were NOT receiving the bonusses of the wing commander. The wing commander was receiving his own bonusses tho. When I moved the wing commander to be the squadron commander of the squad, the squad members received the bonusses correctly.

works fine with me also...
remember, squad commanders and wing commanders only receive their bonus, not the bonus of the leader above them. Squad members receive the bonus from Wing Commander if he has the skill trained for 1 squad or 5. They also receive bonus from their Squad commander i think. ------------

You are right. I retract my bug confirmation, it is really not bugged. The mistake I did during testing was that I was checking the squad commander's stats for the bonusses coming from the wing commander, and as CCP already explained in the rules, commanders are not getting the bonusses of higher level commanders.

Squadmember only get Wingcommander-bonus if the squadcommander has leadership skills?
So if the squadcmdr has leadership 3 and there are 6 squadmember in the squad, they will get gangbonus from the wingcmdr?
And when there are 8 members, the squad get no bonus from any cmdr?
I am right? Sorry, the new gangsystem is a litte bit ...

Xarax, you are right. Squad members are getting a bonus only if they have a squad commander who is capable to lead the given size of squad. And they get the wing commander bonus if the wing commander is having the skills to command the given number of squads. So if you have a wing commander with Wing command level 2, and a squad commander with leadership 3, then:
- if there are 6 people or less in the squad, they receive the bonusses given by the squad commander. If there are more than 6 people in the squad, noone is getting a bonus. In this case the bonusses given by the wing commander won't apply either.
- if there are 2 or less squads in the wing, the wing commander bonus applies to all members in the squads (as long as the squads have a commander capable to lead the squad). If there are more than 2 squads, NO squad is getting bonus from the wing commander.

So to run a successful gang, make sure, that: - every squad has a squad commander assigned and he is in system and he sits in a ship - every squad has only as many members as many the squad commander is able to control (leadership * 2) - every wing has a wing commander, he is in the system and he sits in a ship - every wing has only as many squadrons as the wing commander is able to control

My godness ... this system ist really complex ... to complex to create a usefull fleet with gang-boni. Think no ally will garant to built a fleet with all their wingcmdr and squadcmdr and there skills which are needed for ... and when the dynamic situations in game will kill each koordinated fleetsystem. Hope ccp will find some easier way ...

Squad commanders donÆt get bonuses

This is a major bug and I have verified it thoroughly.
I put my top miner as squad commander and myself as wing commander. The squad commander does not get bonuses.
At the end I have some more explanations of the testing I have done.
But for information here are some numbers for you stat lovers.
What I know for a fact is that I have a level 5 leadership; level 5 mining Forman; and level 5 mining director. I have the mining Forman mind link plugged in and I run a level 1 command ship. I also have wing commander level 2.
(FYI) a strip miner II out of the box gets 360 ore per 180 seconds.
My top miner has a hulk(exhumers level 5) with strip miner II and mining upgrades in the low slots. In slot 10 he has the 5% bonus to mining yield implant.
With out being in a gang on his own he gets 861.16 and his cycle time is the standard 180 seconds
My second best miner with no implants and only exhumers level 4 in a hulk on his own gets 798.16 ore per 180 seconds
When I form a fleet and demote myself to squad leader and I am in the system undocked their yields go up to 990.33 for my top miner and 918.57 for my second guy still the same 180 cycle time.
When I turn on the gang module ômining Forman link - laser optimizationö it reduces the cycle times from the 180 down to 142.2 for all my strip miner II miners.
I played around moving my top miner to the squad command position and myself to the wing command position and while the squad members received bonuses the squad commander did not!!! I happen to have a hauler with leadership level 5 and when I promote him to squad command all the miners get bonuses as long as he is not docked. But as soon as he docks; none of the miners get any bonuses.
Also none of my squad commanders ever receive the shield bonuses that I give them when they are only squad members.
It seems that this is a major OOOPS on CCPÆs part and if you read the material on fleets design and concepts I cant believe that this is by design.
What this means is that if I want to have multiple squads in a 0.0 mining operation say a protection squad and mining squad and a hauling squad each of the squad leaders does not get the bonuses to shields and yields that I should be able to provide. So I am forced to place a squad leader that is not as effective as his/her minions.
I understand CCPS desire to cut down on server requirements to calculate bonuses on large gangs but giving squad commanders their commanderÆs bonuses does not seem to be a huge server load.
I also defy anyone to logically explain a valid reason why after spending months to create the ultimate mining gang leader. I should not have multiple mining gangs and be able to support more than 10 miners. If I do that why should my squad commanders suffer.
Last FYI for the new members out there when you are flying is space right click on a module or gun or mining laser and select show info and it will give you the actual performance of the mining laser/module/ gun in question with all your bonuses calculated in.

this seems reallly silly that you can not get bonuses from upper commanders.
Can CCP confirm that this is a bug or a design feature that needs to be relooked into.

I've seen the same thing. When the Mining Director is the wing commander, the miner who is squad commander doesn't get any bonuses.

Yes commander bonuses not applying to sub commanders sucks and needs fixing.
Also we still are unable to use the "Tag" function as Wing or Squadron commanders.
Tag only works in "gang mode" or if you are the Fleet Commander.
Please can this be looked into as well.

Seconded on the "unable to tag" issue, my corp used to use this alot for controlling aggro in missions especially when we took new recruits along.
I checked this on SISI on Friday and it was still not working.
Any chance of a fix please.
