Originally by: Kamazani isk it took him/her to get that CNR .. shouldn't pvp be a choice made by the player?
It would be only relatively small portion of his assests, since, as we all know, nobody flies a ship he can't afford to lose.
Why PvP needs to be voluntary choice? I think the Eve's current idea and system of merely stopping griefers is good enough. You can kill any pilot out there, but for some targets you need a pretty good reason to justifiy all the needed resources and consequences (==lost ships/sec ratings).
The idea of hunting expensive ships in safer space sounds indeed tempting, although quite a bit tedious. Based on ideas on this thread, one potential path in such career would be:
1. Get familiar with LV4 missions and their setups (like ones that have scramblers near entry gate, and lot of agroable deadly spawn groups) 2. Find and record possible targets, and scan their typical setups 3. Follow targets till you spot one of them doing a suitable mission (wonder if this is possible with the new scanner?) 4. Have 2 of your cheap battleships to warp in, agro spawns, and run 14 neutralizers (+ some ECM to break his locks on scramblers) on the target -> He'll have agro flag, no cap, scrambled, and hopefully with far more NPCs heading in than he can chew 5. Start figuring how to salvage the loot guarded by such NPCs..

faction ships are astoundingly expensive and for such an investment i'd say they make great lvl mission running ships just so the player can get his/her money quickly so he can go back pvping to indulge his/her or other bloodthirst for pvp.
with that in mind.. insurance does not cover the whole cost of what you paid for it nor it's fittings. so yeah... lets stick with the fact that there's pve AND pvp aspects of this game, no one should be forced to do something they had no intention of doing in the first place. a pvp set up gang of pirates on a mission runner far outweighs the mission runner, that's not fairplay, that's outright baloney! keep yer butts out of my mission so i can earn the isk i need to be able to go out and fight you to the death!
You're consenting to PVP by flying something that would be so beneficial to kill. If you don't want PVP in it, fly a regular Raven...no one would go to all this trouble to kill a regular Raven. that said, i don't care how much time you spent getting it, In EVE I can take that from you whenever I want so long as I can. If you're not happy with that, then get a new game. I dont' have to wait till you're ready to fight on your terms, I want to fight you on mine, to hell with fairness, my alliance just got robbed of a bloody carrier by a corp thief, unfair? Who cares, we're done with it and we've learned from it. Whatever, EVE plays like that.
And tbh, if you mission run in high sec you're more or less safe. The only idea that even makes sense here is trying to get all the rats agroed on the mission runner, as most lvl 4 mission setups still require that the rats agro in groups in order to survive, so you're safe, relax.
As soon as you undock you are consenting to whatever comes your way, deal with it.
not quite, nothing in the EULA or disclaimer made by ccp says i have to pvp even if i dont' want to.
what you just said is some inane philosophy of yours and yours alone. it's like saying "hey, when you walk out the door of your house you consent to being shot by a stranger... live with it!"
you cannot play the game without PvP, do you not use the market?
