The jump queue situation is a poor workaround for a bigger problem with this game. If CCP intends to leave jump queues in game then they should at least make any ship stuck in one invunerable while waiting. It is sad when players get penalized by getting ganked while waiting in a queue, when the queues are a result of overloaded and/or poor code optimization.

Jump queues are merely a symptom of high node-load- taking them out would achieve nothing but a node crash.
Unless you happen to know a magical "cure server load" technique, its not worth complaining. And if you do know such a technique, then go into bussiness- you'll be a millionaire.
AFAIK, CCP are already buying up new hardware as quick as IBM will make it for them, so theres really little else to do. -----------------------------------------------

/sarc on
"You are #434 in the queue to sign the petition, please wait and remember your petition will cause nothing to change as a signature pointing out something that someone already knows will do what exactly?"
erm, your petition servers are laggy, please fix them
/sarc off
So, pray tell, how are you going to fix them because a petition will do nothing to help??? Will you remove the queue so that instead you get a black screen and are stuck for a day only to come on after downtime, fly to another high load system and after your 5 minutes of play get stuck again, then go off and post another "Your servers are bugged because I get stuck every 5 mins"???
CCP know they have a problem, CCP are fixing the problem and *****ing about it here will do diddly squat to help them fix it, infact posting yet another "OMG fix the servers" thread is taking power from the database to feed the forums so PLEASE STOP IT!!! ----
God gave us a brain, he also gave us a voice.
Shame some people have yet to connect them.

Actually, if you guys weren't so fast to jump on him, he did suggest a solution. He brings up a real problem. I understand that queues may be required (as a bandaid until a real, long term solution can be arrived at) because of server congestion. But, the fact that you are vulnerable during that time is a joke. Cloak the ship already. When you get to the point and are able to jump, cloak the ship. It becomes uncloaked if you take any action. This is no different than what would happen if the jump had actually occured.

This is getting proper stupid tbh. They were better off without them, especially in 0.0 and to a lesser degree low sec

Jump queue's themselves are ok - a solution to over-populated palces. Jita, and other core 'hub' stations will probably always have queues.
However, being stuck in a 2 person queue to get into a system with 3 people in it, for 35 mins (Arwa?) is properly strange.....

indeed. being stuck at gates in low/.0 is not a happy place to be :) . if you are heading out to pick up a new ship be sure to fill the shuttle with wcs :)

Wow! Someone actually read and understood my post completely. THANK YOU!
Seriously, queues should only be a temporary thing until CCP can get its code straightened out and some kind of real load balancing working. However, this temporary "fix" no longer seems temporary, and the queues are getting worse. Since Jump queues are a crude workaround for a bigger problem, why should players have to lose ships because CCP hasn't fixed their load problem?
Would I rather that the nodes crash instead of being queued? YES! That way more players would complain, many would leave, and CCP would be far more motivated to address server load instead of trying to patch problems alongside slipping in new content.
We have all been hearing since the "dragon" code patch (months ago now) how all this new stuff would address lag, node crashes and etc. Well, server stability just keeps getting worse, and for some reason we all keep paying our subs, and CCP keeps increasing their marketing and beating its chest about new concurrent user milestones.

at least make it so you cloak/become unlockable when in a queue to jump/dock
It has taken me over 1 hour to go 12 jumps... :(
Not complaining, but it mustnt be helping your petition for ship loss queues... :)
Granted it is the first day from the extra patch, just annoyed me today that is all. ;) -----------------------------------------------

Sums it up in a nutshell. Simply put, there are too many EVE players. CCP keeps recruiting new players, but is unable to support this ever increasing player-base with its hard/software infrastructure. I've been playing EVE for 6 months and, during that time, have watched the playability of this excellent game steadily decline...despite the expansions, patches, hotfixes, etc. Even playing at non peak times, doesn't seem to help any more. No...it's not my high-speed connection (whose performance has been consistent over the whole period), nor my late-model pc, nor my software. And, for most of you, it's not yours either. It's the game!
Adding new players is a lot easier than adding the infrastructure to support those players. I think CCP is genuinely trying, but their success at player-recruitment is killing EVE....and they can hardly freeze the player base (I assume CCP has stockholders...who would not be amused by such an action). I think were heading for a bust. Barring some miracle, I suspect that in the next couple of months, large numbers of subscribers are going to quit in frustration. Most of these will be recent subscribers....after all, they have little to lose. The 2-3 year veterans with 3 accounts each will never quit....it's no longer a game for them; it's their religion.
All in all, a player-exodus will solve the playability problem for those that remain. This will be a big benefit to those 2-3 year players....and one they deserve because they've put a lot of time and money into EVE. I sympathize with them. I'd hate to think how I'd feel if I'd made that kind of investment in a game that I could no longer enjoyably play.
Of course, as soon as the game becomes more playable, new players will join....and the cycle will repeat itself. For all I know, it may have already done so.

I love what they have done with the single server despite it's problems. it's right after an expansion and a patch is commingin the next few days but if it's not cleared up in a week or two i'll wonder if perhaps ccp has hit the limit and found out just how many people you can have on a single sever :/
