Look at many of the people posting that want mining restrictions in empire space , most of them belong to Large corporations with even bigger alliances they belong to. I imagine membership has dried up so if they get most of us small corps out of empire space , we will be forced to dissolve are corps and join the bigger corps , we dont have the strength to post security in 0.0 space fighting off pirates and alliance corps who make claim to the 0.0 space. Remember these large corps started out the same we small corps started out mining in empire space, building up there fleet and member count to make there move to 0.0 space , to think we can start out there is a joke and i want the same opportunity of battleship mining as all the large corps had in empire space. We set goals for are selfs , that being to get a battleship for each of are corp members so we can be more productive , now are long term goals are threatened , because large corps cant make there mega millions mining bistot because they leave the more common ore , leave us small corps out of this we are happy to mine in empire space and dont want to be forced to 0.0 untill we are ready. I keep hearing there are to many battleships in game all that say this have multiple battleships , it really nothing more than a power struggle. Basicly we large corps want to control you and pirate corps want to extort from you , fine I dont have a problem fighting them but not till I am ready , they really just saying fight us but only with 1 hand tied behind your back.

I have never heard so much rubbish in my life.
I often mine alone in Non Empire space or with a small group of friends. I just make sure I use the map and scout ahead with an alt.

I agree its politics but I don't think this nerf will help the major corps. If anything it will force them away from the super secure areas also because time is money and hauling mins any distant isn't cost effective. If you can catch me you can have me. |

I completely agree with you Samsson.... except on one point which you are completely mistaken....
The mega corps didn't get their start mining in safe 1.0 space... they actually got their start mining in SAFE 0.0 space before the NPC pirates were beefed up. So most of those huge corps had weeks of mining arkonor in frigates and industrial ships...
which only makes your point even more valid. I'd be happy to mine in 0.0 space. But it's simply not an option... not from NPC pirates but from large megacorps who GRIEF anyone not on thier "I'm cool" list. Seems to me they are as guilty as pirates, but even less honest about it.

My char was born in duripant and mined in many systems within a 10 jump radius. Slowly but surely I realized that mining in renyn and then du annes was the most profitable place for me to mine because ore prices where consistantly high and selling mins was a pain in the butt.
So I made my first 100 million mining du annes before anyone else bothered because it had no station. Who was my benifactor??? Techell.
I have come to learn about the "head start" some of these mega corps had because the same map from beta was used but the point I think needs to be made is HOW will nerfing BS mining help a corp like techell?
I can't see anyway it can help them as all it would do is move a lot of their ore/min suppliers away from them forcing them to pay even higher prices for these items if they chose to remain stationed in algogilla?
Hellmars original comment was that over mining 1.0 space because of its high profitability and no associated risk was skewing the game. More people needed(or were expected to be) to be mining rare ores in 0.0.
I have been called stupid recently but I don't see what the motivation would be for the major corps to support this change. If you can catch me you can have me. |

Nice to see a nerf aimed at the Carebears for a change

Lord not every discussion boils down to care bear or pvp actually has nothing to do with this. If the new corps cant build up in a safe environment conducive to letting them grow then most of us will be forced to join mega corps where we can make a profit who will be much harder for you to pirate. I meen really wouldnt you rather have intermediate players to pirate that dont have the experince of mega corps or the power and have good loots for you to take or would u rather just have mega corps where its so much harder to ply your vocation , basicly this could put crimnals in peril no more easy picking and just makes your fellow legal criminals more powerful If it all comes about I may want to join moo at least they are upfront about what they do and since I like the underdog id have to choose the pirates life over way more powerful mega corp , Lastly I have no problem with capitalism I know this game is founded on it but I do have a problem with a nerf that favors the already rich , not all of us like conforming to the harsh rules most mega corps have. Thanks for the insight friends I may not agree with you but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

Whether you agree or not with alliances they're at least a realistic aspect of the game and imo that makes them good even if the methods they employ are sometimes questionable.
I doubt you would be allowed to go sink an oil well in Iraq or the USA without being arrested, shot or both. It makes sense you won't be able to go mine bistot without contributing to the "owners" by joining up either.
Personally I'm sortof of two minds when it comes to mining in Empire space. Mining anywhere else means making more jumps, mining smaller roids, losing drones, lasers, getting ganked, CTD and having your ship blown up, getting the CAP bug at a very bad time, getting stuck on roids....
Vs
No jumps, no losing drones, lasers ......
Its quite easy to see why people mine in empire space and you really can't blame them.
Then again it'd be nice to see more people in lower sec so I'd have more people to "interact" with :)

Edited by: Lidza on 19/11/2003 12:05:15 I agree 300% with you Samsson... I've posted this issue before.. which these last actions are resemblance to a CARTEL unfortunatly already established in EVE... rather than provide the same level of opportunities to the ones that started this game and who have and are investing their time building a corp even if its small even if they strugle to get new players (because just good graphics isn't enought to attract new players)... resuming... just MAFIA (helping the big players/corps and turning all the new players/corps as their slaves)!
I just which one day... to see just one mega corp on EVE... and also I would like see how many players will play EVE at that time if that happen!... I'm sure that just a few... because the rest will be so bored about a boring game... if someone responsible for this game keeps acting as acted lately giving preference to a big corps... another good example that backup the instituted CARTEL was the way as miner 2 were introduced in this game, were just a few players/corps (guess) big ones got the BP. If this isn't a CARTEL either MAFIA... then, let me know what is then!
By-the-way ... I really never saw a BATTLESHIP set for mining... I just wonder if one day in space we would really see a BATTLESHIPs mining... well I know... this is just a game... and a very unreal game... where war ships like frigates, cruisers, battleships can be used as miner vessels...
Please you that are responsible for support/enhance this game... get real... and provide a few new ships just prepared for mining and remove the option of mounting mining lasers on war ships... because mining with a war ships doesn't make any sense!
