To be slightly more constructive, Everyone knows that people who post to the forums in some manner are representative of what their alliance thinks as a whole. Also granted that usually people who say this actually don't say things that would bring their corp or alliance into disrepute.
Some pilots however will say the stupidest stuff and hope the disclaimer will protect them from ridicule, and they think they are somehow not responsible, or can distance themselves from their asinine remarks by using the disclaimer. But they can't.

To the one poster abit up from my post here, no, a person's personal views do not usually represent what an alliance or corporation as a whole thinks. If some bag boy from Wal-Mart says they hate America, that doesn't mean Wal-Mart as a corporation, in any way, hates America as well.
Same goes for EVE. If someone of no importance from ASCN or BoB comes on the forums and say 'you know, I think the MC are a bunch of *****s and should be destroyed', do you think Seleene or any other MC leader is going to go running to CYVOK or Sir Mollie asking why they hate the MC?
No, if anything, they'll probably mention the guy who said the comment, and let things go from there.
It can be another matter if its the leader of a corp or alliance saying things, but even then, a personal opinion is not a corporate opinion by default.

have to weigh in on this..
I can see how a legitimate reason.
I for one, advocate a NBSI policy. my alliance does not however, and people have been booted for repeatedly violating this policy.
Now I can scream on the forums NBSI all I want, but that does not reflect my corp or alliance policy.
Putting it in your sig is a bit stupid though.
As for people thinking it will shield them from ridicule, that is stupid. You can't even hide behind "it is corp policy, don't shoot the messeger." everybody knows that your asinine post is solely YOUR idea.

yep have to agree - including it seems to be a waste of characters.
Only started trolling the forums just lately but have noticed one particular lady troll who always seems to get some kind of (99% useless) message within the first page.
