Testing out this setup to hunt Serpentis in 0.0 using a Brutix. Fairly low SP setup and has great dps / tank.
Highs: x6 Heavy Ion Blaster I's x1 Medium NOS
Meds: 10MN AB II x1 Kinetic Deflection Amplifier I (puts kinetic resist at 60%) x1 Heat Dissipation Amplifier I (puts thermal resist at 46%) x1 Webber
Lows: x2 Mag Stab x1 Active Kinetic Hardener (puts resist at 67.5% with armor compensation 2) x1 Active Thermal Hardener (puts resist at 67.5% with armor compensation 2) x1 Med. Repper (tech II where possible)
Drones: x5 Med. Thermal / Kinetic OR x3 Heavy Thermal / Kinetic

Edited by: Yarek Balear on 06/12/2006 08:34:20 Dude, drop your shield hardners and focus on what the Brutix does best - armour hardning...
Do something like:
Highs: 7 Heavy Electrons (or 6 + 1 NOS if your worried about cap) Med: AB, Medium electromechanical (cap injector for emergencies), Webber, Cap Recharger Low: 2 Med Repper, Kinetic/thermal hardners, Mag stab
Drones: 4 Medium and 5 Lights.
You'll tank much more damage that way and you will be more cap efficient, sustaining your tank for longer... I'd use the light drones to pop frigates and the mediums to help with damage output.
[EDIT: this makes use of one of the main bonuses the Brutix has - armour repair]

However... the shield resists are for the approach. While you're out 25-35k heading towards those 3 battleship spawns they're gonna pelt you like mad. Then the extra blaster and mag stabs should allow for plenty of gank to take out the first BS + your drones. Then after that it's smooth sailing... orbit one BS and you only have to tank the other.
You should also use x5 medium drones and stay away from the lights. You want to keep the frigates alive so you can keep chaining those nice BS spawns. Plus, even if you did kill them... medium drones with some skillpoints track plenty fast to kill frigs.
Also seems like the cap booster and cap rechargers wouldn't be needed if you didn't use 2 med. reppers. The medium NOS should be ample. With the resists you have, and using hardeners, you can tank plenty fine using one repper. Especially if you use techII.

Lose the shield hardeners.

Why are you using an afterburner and not a MWD to close range faster? Further more, why aren't you bookmarking a roid near the NPCs, warping out, then warping back in again at 0km so you land right next to them? Thats a much faster and easier method for belt ratting than using an AB to close on the targets.

Would much rather use a 10MN AB II than a microwarp because of the 500% sig radius. 135% is plenty to get you in range. Plus with the extra grid you save from fitting an afterburner you can add another hybrid.

7 Ions
10 mn MWD, web, 2 cap rechargers
1 rep, dcu, dual eamII or two specific membranes if your rats do explosive, pdc (boosts everything and youll need it without avw)
The pdu is of course subject, once you mannage to lay hands on rigs (and i seriously sugges you do this, it frees a low) fit an enegery grid rig.
This ship usd to be the king in 0.0, drops dual 1.25 spawns in half the time my onld domi did, but the drak is the real low sp ship. I have 130k sp in missles and 400k sp in shileds and the dual spawns, 1.25s i mean, wont put my passive, crapy tank past 84%, i juast go afk when i need to...

Then bookmark roids and use them to warp next to your targets. There really is no need for the shield resistance hardeners on your fitting.

Edited by: Darknar on 06/12/2006 11:08:33 i use high slots 7 heavy ion blasters
mediums 1 10MN microwarpdrive 1 webber 1 20km warp jammer 1 tracking module
lows an all round tank with at least 1 Istab
only problem with this setup is the lack of sustainable tank
however this setup is desinged to get into range of your foe as fast as possible with the MWD. web and jam them whilst turning your MWD of to save cap and the proceed to blow them to bits with massive ammounts of blaster firepower.
I use this setup even when doing missions, ratting in 0.0 and. and it works fairly well.
except hen in deadspace complexes. you need a compleatly different fit then. usually a bunch of 200mm railguns an afterburner and more trcking computers and stuff

With the new scanners, shouldn't your ratting setup for 0.0 be your favorite PVP setup?

There's nothing about the new scanning system that stops you from SSing. ----

There is something about the new scanning system that busts SS's quicker. Trust me, we had a SS busted on our fleet last night within 2 minutes. Not that the caught us, but it was busted nevertheless.

- Mixed shield and armor tanks are a waste, specialize on one.
- On Guristas/Serpentis either shield or armor tank do comparably good since the damage types are in the middle ground, so preferably stick with the armortank to grab the brutix bonus.
- Compared to that Angel rats hurt in an armortank if you don't have top of the line resists but that is another story.
- Armor Compensation skills affect active hardeners when they are turned OFF
- If in doubt use Thermal Drones, they have a higher damage mod (And Serpentis have the resistance hole in heat)
