Right, here it goes. I am going to try an be as clear as possible, so please bare with me on this one, I will also jeep it real short.
MY GOAL: Boost Power grid of Medium Sized Missile boats, At least the ones with Short Lock Range. Reason: Heavy assault missiles take more power grid.
Suggestion: PICK EITHER the DRAKE or NIGHTHAWK, Reduce its range to Around 30km. Increase its Power grid. Result: a Close range Medium Heavy Hitter than can't do a damn thing beyond 40km.
When i say Increase Power Grid, i don't mean double it. Just something Descent.
--------the new Gallente BS Has that kind of IDEA behind it.

Honestly HAM's do 20% more dps than heavy missles but only 20% of the range. They could very well have the same power grid as heavies and be balanced. /shrug

On the Test Server, HAMs almost took out my Deimos. Then, I would simply orbit at 15KM and watch the HAMs burn out before they even reach me. But, I couldn't hit the target at 15KM either... so... if you ask me, HAMs are overpowered, even with their powergrid requirements.
This post is biased, becuase I hate Caldari anyways.

HAMs are overpowdered
my nose says no
Range is an adequate nerf for the dps increase. Grid nerf is a survivor of the early stage of Kali on Sisi but I am sure people will eventually realise that as they train for them and their tier II variants and see the dead end...
But if it offends those that have never been fired upon by HAMs in their present state but are still afraid of the idea... k whatever... Arguably my opinions represent to an extent the opinions of my alliance and in particular circumstances give rise to a valid "casus belli" claim. |

I can't remember using more grid to fit blasters than rails, so the logical reason for heavy assaults using more grid than heavy launchers escapes me
The penalty for more damage is reduced range. So the penalty is there, heavy assaults should have the same grid requirements as heavies.
Maybe are tech II HAMS the problem? I for one don't like the idea of short range missiles going so far on e.g. a Cerberus, but I think the Cerberus might be in for an overhaul as Tuxford mentioned earlier, so precision HAMS would not be that hot after that. Considering the legendary Caldari ships agility, some more range for close range missiles is a very wellcome compensation. Some more range doesn't mean 30km... ____________________ A gentleman is someone who can play the bagpipe, but who does not. |

will someone list the base then max fireing speed, and damage of HAMs so we can gets a dps check on them and also their speed also base ahnd max range. this way we can grade them affectively as they have 100% hit rate. oh yes, damage volocity aswell, see what speed is needed to outrun the damage.

oh god, here we go ... graphs showing that HAMs have the dps of a single electron while showing that a single basic autocannon can blow up several titans* (the ammo goes straight through them one after another)
*the hard part is getting them to line up
