Dear CCP,
can you please allow people to Salvage wrecks without having to fill their cargo hold with useless junk ...... I know it can be jettisoned but that doesn't waork in all cases ..
Minding my own business, flying through belts and happened to find a nice 4 carrier npc spawn.
Killed the carriers and started to try to salvage the wrecks (first time) ...
1st problem ..... Can't salvage, need to empty loot first.
2nd problem ..... Have 25 million trit and 50 m3 cargo space, 29 jumps from anywhere!
3rd problem ..... Have 4 cans which equals 100 million trit.
4th problem ..... Still can't salvage
Bright Idea 
Jettison to cans !
5th problem ..... Need a zillion cans and can only release 1 ever x mins
So, please CCP think of the little guy who strikes gold and let us salvage wrecks
without trying to do the impossible.

1. Pick up 1 trit from the wreck
2. Use the trit to drop a can
3. Transfer all trit from wreck to can directly (they have to be within 1500m from each other)
4. Salvage the empty wreck
5. ???
6. Profit!

I think you might have it backwards or maybe you were just bugged. I started salvaging today,i had ammo and loot in my cargo hold and was able to "salvage" a few peices. You need to empty the wreck of loot before trying to salvage,not your cargo hold.
If you knew that and still couldnt salvage until you emptied your hold, then your bugged. Which isnt a problem with how salvage is designed, just somethings not right with your ship at the time. The above means it must be an isolated case,either your ship, you or the system at the time.

You can't as dropped cans have limited space which still leave you with +24 million trit in the wreck.

that's not what he was saying. the wrecks had tons of trit in them, far more than you can fit in a jetcan, and you'd need a whole bunch of people making cans as fast as they could to get all the trit out before the wrecks time out and disappear.

Maybe a soultion for CCP (hint hint) would allow use to salvage wrecks without emptying the loot (if you don't want it) and its destroyed in the process.
